What do I love about being a Muslim? What can I say?
You have two hours, you have three hours, you have a day, you have your life to speak about. What do I not love about being a Muslim? I love everything.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, having found Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, the simplicity of Islam, its comprehensiveness. I love Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala with all His names and attributes, the ability to see Him in everything, see His attributes in everything.
They say whoever knows Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will see Him and His attributes manifested in anything and everything. Look around me, look at the sky. When I look at the sky, what do I see? Look at the vastness of the sky.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the most vast. Like this sky is vast, you cannot fill it. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala's rahma and compassion and forgiveness is vast. No matter how many sins do I have, Allah is the most forgiving.
Look at the trees, look at the mountains around me, look at the insects, look at the bugs, look at the birds. Everything around me is a Muslim. What do I love about Islam? It's the religion of the whole universe.
Everything, the whole universe is in submission to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. And all are worshipping Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. It's the religion of surrender. What do I love about Islam?
Not that I found happiness and peace, but that I found happiness and peace in the truth. It's a big difference between somebody who's happy. But happy with what? Happy with drinking and eating. Imagine a person who says, I am happy worshipping Allah.
I am happy knowing Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. I am happy doing dhikr and remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. What Islam did to me, it changed the source of my happiness. From being the mundane materialistic things to be the true things.
To be happy with the Prophet (ﷺ). What can I say? Everything about Islam is beautiful. A relation with Muhammad (ﷺ). You know when Aisha (رضي الله عنها) was asked the same question.
People came and asked her, tell us about one of the most amazing things you know of the Prophet (ﷺ). What was her response? She actually started crying. That was the response.
And if that is not sufficient, words do not suffice. And then she raised her head and she said, ayyu amrihi lam yakun ajaba. You want me to tell you about something that's amazing about the Prophet (ﷺ)?
Everything about him was amazing (ﷺ). I would say the way he sleeps, the way he eats, the way he drinks, the way he worships. Islam gives me the opportunity to know Muhammad (ﷺ).
The gift of rahma to mankind. Knowing all the Prophets. Having material that describes everything about them. That's like a treasure. I can't stop reading. I can't stop wondering. Every book I read about the Prophet (ﷺ).
Every opportunity, how he worshipped Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. It's amazing. I love Islam. I love everything about Islam. I love that my peace and happiness is in submission to God. I love that I joined this universe.
Finally, finally in discovering Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and finding Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. There is a saying of Ibn Ata'illah Al-Sakandari that he says, ma dha wajada man faqadak? wa ma alladhi faqada man wajadak? What has he lost? The one who found You, Ya Rabb.
And what has he found? The one that lost You, Ya Rabb al-'Alamin. Islam is a path where I found the truth. And the truth is Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. And the truth is so beautiful. The truth is so amazing.
The truth is so wonderful. This truth gave me a pair of eyes by which I can see things differently. By which I can decode, I can read everything in life. Easy things, hard things. Good things, what we perceive as bad things.
Everything, everything. I can see the reason and the wisdom that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has in. I can decode and read the universe. I can decode and read myself. I can decode and read my relationships, my emotions. I can take everything to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
The Qur'an, the message of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. How can't I love the Qur'an? How can't I love the ability to stand and worship Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and talk to Him. And Allah is talking to me. It's everything. The relationship with the angels.
Understanding about the hereafter. The simplicity of the message. The simplicity of the truth. And how it transforms one to find happiness. Happiness in doing that which is right. To find what I call angelic happiness.
I love Islam. And I love the fact that I love Islam. I love that I'm happy with Islam. And I'm happy that my happiness is in Islam and in surrender to God.
