Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam has left Hajar and Ismail in the desert. In that time, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has sent Jibreel Alayhi Salaam to them, opened the well of Zamzam, and a people have settled around them, as was the du'a of Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam. And the tribe of Jurhum comes, Ismail Alayhi Salaam marries from that tribe, he starts his own family and Hajar has passed away. And now Ismail is amongst his people Alayhi Salaam, establishing salah. He's not worried about the fact that Ishaq and Ya'qub Alayhi Salaam, and the other side of the family of Ibrahim is getting all of the praise and all of the growth. Ismail is satisfied with his seemingly small scope, right? And this is part of his sincerity and his promise to his father. He does as he is commanded by Allah. He is submissive, just like his father is to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala's command and to Allah's scope, not knowing that one day Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will make of him a great nation through Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Then Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam comes back years later. At this point, Ismail Alayhi Salaam is grown. And he says to his son Ismail that Allah has commanded me to raise the foundations of his sacred home. To'inuni ala thalik, will you support me in doing so? Ismail Alayhi Salaam, of course, was submissive and said, yes. Now I want you to think about Ibrahim and Ismail Alayhi Salaam building the Kaaba. No one there. It's just them two raising the foundations of the Kaaba stone by stone. And as they put it together, Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam raises his hands and Ismail Alayhi Salaam raises his hands to make dua, to supplicate. And it's just those two around the Kaaba.
And Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam's first dua is what? Rabbana taqabbal minna. Oh, our Lord, accept from us. Rabbana taqabbal minna. And this is incredible, right? As one of the scholars pointed out, Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam is asking Allah for acceptance. Even though he is a chosen servant, Allah chose him to build the Kaaba in a specified place, gave him a specified command. Everything was clearly set out for Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam by Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la to do what he did. Yet Ibrahim is still concerned out of his sincerity for acceptance. And this is actually a really important note in sincerity and an intention that sometimes, though your intention might be pure in the first place, you might lose it at some point. And so we learn from Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam the post dua. After you do a good deed, ask Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la to accept it because something might have went wrong along the way with your intention, first and foremost. Something might have deviated at some point. So we already saw, you know, in the previous lessons that Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam was still asking Allah to protect him from idol worship, was still asking Allah to allow him to be amongst those that establish the prayer and hear, yeah, Allah, accept, accept this deed that I have done for your sake. And we learned that for ourselves. So he has sincerity. And part of sincerity as well is that Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam does not just stop there. He says, Arina manaseekana He asks Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la to show us the way to do these rituals, show us what to do next. And there are two things that make a deed acceptable in the sight of Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la. Number one, sincerity. Number two, correctness. Right? So it is sincerity and then it is sunnah in methodology. And in this case, that is going to be taught to Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam directly. We find this embedded in Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam's dua for Allah to send us a prophet. Okay?
Rabbana wabaAAath feehim rasoolan minhum yatloo AAalayhim ayatika wa yuAAallimuhumu alkitabahu alhikma Okay? So Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la is being asked by Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam to send a prophet to us that will not just recite the verses to us, but that will teach us the book and its hikmah and its wisdom. And Imam Al-Shafi'i Rahimahullah says that's the sunnah of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Why? Because it is very easy to sincerity your way out sometimes out of the sunnah. All right? To say my intentions are good. So I'm just going to worship the way I feel like worshipping. I'm going to do things the way I feel like doing things. And Ibrahim is teaching us in both what he asked for himself and his son, as well as what he asked for the prophet and within the prophet that would be sent to us, that we not just be sincere in our hearts, but we be sincere in our pursuits in following the correct ways that Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la gives to us to worship him. And how does Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la reward that dua or accept that dua? So obviously Rabbana taqabbal minna, you know, the acceptance is there. Allah quotes the dua of Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam, that sincere dua where he's asking Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la for acceptance. But what happens next? Allah who sent Jibreel Alayhi Salaam to the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam to teach him the prayer, to lead him in salah. So when you pray, you are praying the way that Jibreel taught the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam how to pray. Allah sends Jibreel Alayhi Salaam to Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam. And every single step of the hajj, every one of the manasik of the hajj, Jibreel Alayhi Salaam teaches Ibrahim its performance. And that is the way that we do hajj now. SubhanAllah, so that when a person goes sincerely for the sake of Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la for hajj, may Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la enable us all to have a hajj mabroor, an accepted hajj in our lives, to have the intention for it and to allow us to carry it out sincerely and properly.
We are doing the same manasik, the same rituals that Jibreel Alayhi Salaam taught Ibrahim Alayhi Salaam and that Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam revived. And we ask Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la to accept from us and to allow us to be sincere in our intentions and to be guided to the correct ways of following him SubhanAllah Wa Ta-A'la or following his way SubhanAllah Wa Ta-A'la through the way of our messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
