As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Welcome back to the Faith Revival. Umar ibn al-Khattab, once again, who has been in I think probably 20 of our 26 episodes thus far, has a beautiful saying about companionship and the effect on iman. He says radiAllahu ta'ala anhu, maa oot ya'abdun ba'da al-islami khayran min akhin saalih. He said a person is not given a gift after Islam better than a righteous brother or a righteous sister. A person is not given a gift better than Islam than a righteous brother or a righteous sister. And this is something very powerful. Having people around you that remind you of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and that increase your iman. And you find all of these different sayings. Mu'adh radiAllahu anhu, Mu'adh ibn Jabal, the great companion, he used to say to some of his companions, ajlis bina nu'min sa'a. Sit with us and let's believe in Allah for an hour. Let's believe in Allah for an hour. Umar ibn al-Khattab radiAllahu anhu used to say to his sons and used to say to some of his companions, let's walk together and believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for an hour. Let's go for a walk and let's believe in Allah together. They didn't say let's remember Allah. Let's believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala together. So you have this constant idea now of sitting and believing together. And ibn Abi Shaybah one time he said these words. He said to some of his companions, he said let's sit and believe in Allah together. So they said are we not believers right now? And he said no but when we sit and we remember Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala we renew our belief. What did that look like? Let's go for a walk. Let's talk. Let's go on a retreat. Let's sit together and remind one another of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Let's have a regular regimen where we sit together and remember Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and talk about Allah. So let's believe in Allah together. Let's talk about Allah. Let's talk about what affected us from the Quran. Let's have a group. Let's have a few people that read the Quran together every day. So for example this group, each person is going to read his 10 pages or her 10 pages a day and every week we'll come together and we'll talk about what that looked like and what are your reflections. Let's walk together and renew our faith. Let's sit together and believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala together. And if you notice the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam told us the heart is very inconsistent. So you need as many stabilizing factors as possible. Since you cannot control the inconsistency of the inside, you need to stabilize the outside as much as possible. So you need to tie that which is unstable to that which is stable as much as possible. And that's why the connection to the masjid has to be there. Has to be there. When the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam mentions the seven that are shaded under the throne of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, he mentions together as the scholars say, a person whose heart is tied to the masjid, and then a person who loves someone only for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Because the scholars said you're likely to find that person in the masjid not outside the masjid. So you need to tie your iman to a stabilizing place and you need to tie your iman to stabilizing friends, a stabilizing environment. And actually turn your relationships into relationships of iman. Where we build that iman together. Now it's not easy to find people like that. And Imam al-Ghazali rahimahullah said, you only need to find one. He actually mentioned this in this chapter that if you can just find one person, one person and you say to that person, let's walk together and talk about Allah. Let's remember Allah. You don't need to be a scholar to talk about Allah. You don't need to be a scholar to remember Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Not let's talk about fiqh and tafsir. No. Let's just remind each other why we believe. And the very famous incident that Muawiyah narrates that the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam came out to us one day. And we were sitting in the masjid of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam. And we were thanking Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for the blessing of Islam upon us. We were remembering our days of ignorance and we were just talking about the blessing of Islam upon us. And the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam came out to us and said, what are you all talking about? And we said, Ya Rasulullah, wallahi we're just remembering Allah and thanking Allah for the blessing of Islam. And the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam saw that they were stressed out because it was as if he was interrogating them. And he said, I'm not questioning you. He said, it's just that Jibreel alayhi salam just came to me and he told me that Allah is boasting about you to the angels right now. Allah is boasting about you to the angels right now subhanAllah. So find that friend that it's not awkward to say. If you notice some of our relationships, it's awkward to talk about Allah. Find a friend, find a brother, find a sister that you could say, let's talk about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala together. Let's believe in Allah for an hour. Let's take some time out and let's just talk about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and believe in Allah together. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allow us to be reminded of Allah. And think about this. The Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam said that shaytan attacks the lone sheep. That the wolf goes after the stray sheep. SubhanAllah, when we are together, shaytan cannot attack us the way he can attack us when we are in our isolation. May Allah bring us out of that. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us amongst those who remember him with people and with ourselves. And may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allow belief to be consistent in our individual lives and in our public lives. Allahuma ameen. JazakumAllahu khayran. See you all next time inshaAllah. Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.
