Day 26: A Date with Destiny | Ramadan Strong
The Night of Laylatul Qadr is a moment where our destiny is revealed to the angels. Out of Allah’s Love, Grace and Mercy, he has given us the opportunity to meet our destiny with a clean slate through repentance and to shape it with our invocations.

I want you to imagine and bring to your head all your hopes and dreams, all the things that you wish could possibly be in the year to come. And then I want you to think of all the worries and concerns and anxieties that we have of the future, of things that we wish would never happen to us and our families and our loved ones. Laylatul Qadr, the night of destiny, is the night in which all of this will be determined. It's the night in which our dreams can be realized and our nightmares can be averted and we can be protected from them. This is the night of our destiny, the moment of our destiny, and it is a moment that we seek out in these ten nights. And it is a moment that is so blessed that the Prophet ﷺ, which was not the case that he would do outside of these ten nights, put himself in the masjid, secluded himself in isolation to search out for this moment. And so we too in whatever capacity we can, whether it's through the itikaf or even outside of that, we search and we seek and we hunt for this moment that will define our life, literally. I want to talk about two aspects of this beautiful night and the connection between these two, to appreciate the rahmah of Allah. The first point of this night is that it is a night in which the decree comes down, and we know this. The second part is the blessing of this night, that it's a night that's greater than a thousand months, a night that the angels come down. It's a night in which any act of ibadah we do is supercharged, it's full of barakah,
it's empowered and emboldened more than it ever was ever before. So these are the two aspects, the decree and the power. Why these two together? SubhanAllah, this is out of Allah's rahmah. Allah is giving us our decree, and our decree is going to be influenced by the sins that we've done, any good deeds that we did. This is going to influence what's going to happen in our life. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is giving us a chance, right before the decree comes down. It doesn't matter what happened before, the sins that we've done before, Allah is giving us a chance to wipe our slate clean, so that it's not taken into account with our decree for the year. To increase in our ibadah, so that we can possibly be rewarded in the year to come. This is the night that Allah has given us so much opportunity, that He made the same night of our decree, the same night that will supercharge our duas and our ibadah and everything, so that we can actually help to shape our destiny for the year to come. And of course, nothing escapes the tawfiq and the qadr of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Our act of dua itself was from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala's will. That Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, out of His grace and His fadr and His rahmah, make us the means to be able to change the qadr, as the Prophet ﷺ said, لا يرد القدر إلا الدعاء That nothing averts the qadr like dua. And this is just generally dua, the power of dua, subhanAllah. The power of a human being, earnestly in his soul, from the depths of his soul, crying out to his Creator, to help him and to save him, and to protect him. That power in and of itself is able to avert the decree. Can you imagine then, that same dua, in the night of laa yathu qadr, Allah has given it even more power, more maqam, more status, more blessing, greater than a thousand months,
subhanAllah, to supercharge that dua, to give it that advantage, so that anything we utter or even think in our hearts, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is taking out of His rahmah, wanting the best for us, wanting ease for us. And so He made it so easy, that on the night of qadr, it is the night of extreme ease for ibadah. Any small thing has huge consequences, is multiplied. Whatever good that we do, that is Allah's rahmah. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is so kareem to us. And so appreciate this my dear brothers and sisters, and on this night as we seek after it, don't be afraid to dream big. Don't be afraid to dream big, because this is the moment where our greatest dreams can be actualized and realized. And of course don't forget to ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to protect us from any harm or any calamity that could befall us or our families in the year to come. So make dua my dear brothers and sisters, and please don't forget me in your duas. Jazakumullahu khayrun. As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
