I felt that this was different from any other sort of book that I had read before, text I had read before. It was speaking directly to me as opposed to other things that I had read were kind of talking about things. So that was phase one. Phase two was when I started practicing the Qur'an. Phase two was when I started praying. I started actually experimenting with prayer before I actually became a Muslim. And everything just made so much sense. The positions, the things that you have to say, the times of day, the cycles of sunlight and sunset that it kind of puts you in harmony with. It made so much sense and it was such a powerful experience. I felt that it was true in a very real way when I started experimenting with the prayer. And then the final phase, the final phase was when my son was born. Because I was already married when I accepted Islam. And when my son was born, just looking at that innocent baby and now knowing that I was responsible for being a role model for this person, I finally admitted to myself that Islam was the complete truth. And if I wanted to be the right type of example for this new child, that I had to embrace it entirely.
