Do you remember how you felt when you lost your favorite toy as a child? What about when, as you got older, you watched your parents struggle with illness?

As we move through the stages of life, the pangs of loss only grow bigger and more devastating. Realizing this, many of us begin to give up and detach. ‘Don’t love too much, don’t long too much,’ we tell our aching hearts.

But surely this can’t be the answer either. There must be a balance between love and loss, dunya and akhirah.
