Yaqeen Book Club

Your deen deserves more than a skim. The Yaqeen Book Club is a free online space inside the Yaqeen app where you can grow your faith alongside a community of learners like you. Take your time with the weekly reading, then work through guided prompts in your private digital journal or the discussion forum, get exclusive content straight from the authors, and more.

How to join

The Book Club runs in the Yaqeen app. Get the app free on iPhone, iPad or Android, sign in with a free Yaqeen account, and open Book Club to join the current read. You can also download the PDF version of the book for free on your desktop for easy viewing. On a computer, scan the QR code with your phone to get started.

How it works

Step 1

Read

The club works through one Yaqeen book across the span of several weeks. Every week focuses on a new chapter or fixed page amount.

Step 2

Reflect

Jump to your digital reflection journal and follow a guided prompt. This space is for you to internalize the reading by connecting your personal life and experiences to the text, or take a few notes from the parts that resonated with you. Your responses are private and will not be shared.

Step 3

Discuss

Join the discussion board to interact with members over the week’s reading. Answer the guided prompt, deepen conversations, and pose questions to the group. Taking part is optional, and plenty of members read and reflect without ever posting.

What to read

The club reads Yaqeen-published books written by scholars in their fields. We will read through one book at a time and announce the next one shortly after the current book concludes. All books are available for free inside the app or on this site.

FAQ

What is the Yaqeen Book Club?

The Yaqeen Book Club is a free online book club run by Yaqeen Institute inside the Yaqeen app. Members read one Yaqeen research book together across a run of several weeks, with a set number of chapters assigned each week, a private reflection prompt alongside it, and a discussion board for that week’s reading.

Is the Yaqeen Book Club free?

Yes, completely. There is no membership fee, no subscription, and no charge for the books. Yaqeen Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and keeps its research free and accessible to all, and the Book Club is no different.

Is there an online book club for Muslims?

Yes. The Yaqeen Book Club is a free online book club reading Islamic research books, run by Yaqeen Institute. It is open to anyone with the free Yaqeen app, it runs entirely online rather than in person, and it reads peer-reviewed books written by Muslim scholars in their fields.

How do I join the Yaqeen Book Club?

Download the free Yaqeen app on iPhone, iPad or Android, sign in with a free Yaqeen account, and open the Book Club. Joining takes one tap from there, and you can start on the current week straight away.

Do I need an account to join the Book Club?

Yes, a free Yaqeen account is needed to join. The account is what keeps your reading progress and your private reflections attached to you, so they are still there when you come back. Creating one costs nothing and needs no payment details.

How much reading is it each week?

It varies between 1 to 2 chapters each week, depending on the topic and book. The club deliberately breaks a book into weekly pieces rather than expecting you to read it all at once, so it stays manageable alongside everything else.

Are my reflections private?

Yes. Reflections you write are private to you and are not posted to the discussion board or shown to other members. The discussion board is a separate, public space you post to only if you choose.

Can I join the Book Club on a computer?

The Book Club runs in the Yaqeen mobile app, so you take part on a phone or tablet rather than in a desktop browser. The app is free on iPhone, iPad and Android.

What book is the Book Club reading right now?

The current book, and how far through it the club is, are shown in the Yaqeen app as soon as you open the Book Club. The club moves to a new Yaqeen book at the end of each run, and once a run finishes you can revisit the Book Club content in the app whenever you like. Every book the club reads is also available free on yaqeeninstitute.org/read/books.
