About Yaqeen Compass™
What is Compass™?
When we talk about religiosity, we often associate it with the way people dress, how often they pray, and whether or not they act a certain way. At Yaqeen, we wanted to look for something more. Being religious, as is described in the Qur’an, goes way beyond our external behaviors. The result? B.A.S.I.C.
BASIC is an acronym that stands for:
- Belief
- Attitude
- Spirituality
- Institutional Connection
- Contribution
Our definition is by no means the only way to think about religiosity, but we believe it captures some of the fundamental features of our faith and, when using it as a measure, can suggest ways we can become a better version of ourselves.

Compass™ plans
BASIC makes up our religiosity framework. Our Compass assessment helps you find your strengths as well as key areas to grow within this framework. Once you identify those areas, our customized Compass plan will guide you along your faith journey.
Here’s how it works:
- The assessment identifies areas where you are emerging or growing in your spirituality.
- Your Compass dashboard suggests a 4-week plan of resources that target those areas.
- Don’t like what you see? Generate new plans until you’re satisfied.
- Commit to completing one resource per week and check it off when complete.
- Retake the Compass assessment every 3 months to track your growth!
