**[0:00]** What are you seeking forgiveness for? You just prayed. Why would you seek forgiveness? The most superior forgiveness is the istighfar of the Prophet ﷺ. When Prophet ﷺ used to seek forgiveness from Allah over a hundred times a day, what was he seeking forgiveness for? It wasn't for sin. It was for feeling naqs, for feeling deficiency, for feeling taqseer,

**[0:18]** for feeling like you didn't do enough. Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest. The salam, the taslim is the entrance of the people of Jannah.

**[0:35]** The salam is the greeting of Allah to His servants. The salam is the greeting of the angels. The salam is the greeting of the people of Jannah amongst each other. The salam is our greeting when we meet, our greeting when we part ways.

**[0:55]** The breathing of the people of Jannah is tasbeeh and takbeer and tahleel. That's how they breathe. Hence, they nourish themselves. They find sweetness with the adhkar. And so after the salam, there are the adhkar. And it's like breathing at that point.

**[1:10]** But taslim is also in this regard, submission. Which is the best state of the human being. So you've submitted to Allah's greatness, to His decree, to His legislation. And now you are manifesting salam to your right, salam to your left. Everything to your right and everyone to your right.

**[1:25]** Everyone and everything to your left. You have absorbed salam and so now you spread salam. And the source of that salam is Allahumma anta salam wa minka salam. Tabarakta ya dhal jalali wal ikram.

**[1:41]** Oh Allah, you are as-Salam. Like you've realized it as you've immersed yourself in this exercise of salam. Allahumma anta salam. You are as-Salam. Wa minka salam. From you comes as-Salam. Tabarakta. How blessed are you.

**[1:56]** Ya dhal jalali wal ikram. Oh you who possesses all majesty and all honor. SubhanAllah as you carry those meanings outside of salah. Like imagine if you just came out of a big meeting and you just had this type of a relationship. This type of an interaction.

**[2:12]** You're going to call people. You're going to talk about how amazing it was. Ya Allah, you're spreading that salam because you just tasted the salam. That peace from being in relationship with Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. And of course you also astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah.

**[2:27]** Even before you say that, I just wanted to show the connection between salam and Allahumma anta salam. Astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah. What are you seeking forgiveness for? You just prayed. Why would you seek forgiveness? The most superior forgiveness is the istighfar of the Prophet ﷺ.

**[2:44]** When Prophet ﷺ used to seek forgiveness from Allah over a hundred times a day, what was he seeking forgiveness for? It wasn't for sin. It was for feeling naqs, for feeling deficiency, for feeling taqseer, for feeling like you didn't do enough. The best istighfar is when you did a good deed

**[3:00]** and you seek refuge in Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, or you seek forgiveness from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala for the shortcomings in the performance of that good deed. Like Ya Allah, it should have been better. You accept this prayer, even though it was broken, even though I had some moments of forgetfulness, even though it will never be enough

**[3:15]** to match what you are owed. Subhanak, astaghfirullah. Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wa astaghfirhu. Right? You declare the perfection of the Lord and your own imperfection. And so this is the most superior form of istighfar because it's the closest to the istighfar of the Prophet ﷺ.

**[3:33]** And then you say SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, Allahu Akbar 34 times. Of the blessings of that, by the way, something very profound. You know, you fast Ramadan and then you have six of Shawwal.

**[3:48]** It doesn't just expand throughout the year, but it fills in some of the imperfections. You give zakat. Zakat is like an admission that some of my wealth is certainly impure. And so I'm purifying it. You made tasbih and tahmid and takbir in your salah,

**[4:04]** but some of them might not have been very perfect. Right? And so part of it is makeup and part of it is addition. So SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar. There's one narration, which is so profound. The Prophet ﷺ was using his hands.

**[4:19]** It's an authentic narration. And he says, SubhanAllah 10 times, Alhamdulillah 10 times, Allahu Akbar 10 times. He said 150 on the tongue, 1,500 on the scale. What does he mean 150 on the tongue?

**[4:35]** If you said SubhanAllah 10 times, Alhamdulillah 10 times, Allahu Akbar 10 times after every salah, that's 30 times per prayer, 30 times five. How much is that? 150. So the Prophet ﷺ said 150 on the tongue,

**[4:51]** 1,500 on the scale because Allah multiplies every good deed by at least 10. Then he said at the time of the nights, for person then says again, SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar at the time of sleeping.

**[5:09]** And he mentioned ﷺ, Allahu Akbar 34 times. So this is like a hundred times. He said a hundred on the tongue, a thousand on the scale. And he said, who amongst you commits 2,500 sins in a day? Now the mention of 10, 10, 10, as opposed to the 33, 33, 34,

**[5:29]** or 33, 33, 33, and la ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu lahul mulk, wa lahul hamd wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir. The mention of that is that at the bare minimum, let's say that you don't have time to say SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, Allahu Akbar 34 times, or 33 times with the extension of tahleel,

**[5:44]** at least do the 10 times, right? And aim for the highest level there. The last thing, dear brothers and sisters, that I will say here, the greatest fruit of salah is that closeness to Allah, and I want to emphasize that, qurb.

**[5:59]** The Prophet ﷺ did not say about any other ibadah, that my qurratu 'ayn, the coolness of my eyes was made. He didn't say my coolness of my eyes is in my siyam, or in my hajj. He said it was in my salah. It's in my salah. Arhna biha ya Bilal.

**[6:15]** Comfort us with it, O Bilal. It's the greatest form of closeness because it's a consistent closeness. You know what's amazing about it? It doesn't matter what your economic status is, even what your health status is. You have salah. You don't have to do anything, go anywhere.

**[6:30]** Like hajj, you have to go to Mecca. Umrah, you have to go to Mecca. Salah, wherever you are. It doesn't have a season like Ramadan. It doesn't have a threshold like zakah. Every single believer has access to salah. And that salah is a consistent closeness to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala

**[6:46]** that transcends all things. And Ibn al-Qayyim Rahimahullah mentions that, when Fir'aun promises people, when they asked him, a'inna lana la'ajran in kunna nahnu al-ghalibin? Will we have a reward if we win? And he said,

**[7:01]** na'am wa innakum laminal muqarrabin? Yes, and I'll bring you close to me as well. That Fir'aun was saying to his people, closeness to me is better than the reward that I'll give you. Allah 'Azza wa Jal, truly, closeness to Him is greater than any reward that He can give you.

**[7:17]** And that's why Asiya, 'alayha as-salam, asked Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, rabbi ibni li 'indaka baytan fil jannah. Oh Allah, build for me a home with you in Jannah. She asked Allah for qurb before the jaza, for closeness before the reward.

**[7:32]** And so salah allows you to have a closeness to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala that no other deed can give you. And that closeness to Allah, you'll taste ihsan in a way, excellence in a way, that you will find a reward of everything in this life to be greater

**[7:49]** and a reward of everything in the hereafter to be more. This is the most important pillar of your faith after the shahada. This is your therapy in this life. It was given to the Prophet, ﷺ, after his most difficult days. And this is your greatest reward in the hereafter.

**[8:05]** And what I remind you of is that the regret of the people of Hellfire will be lam nakun minal musallin. We weren't amongst those who used to pray. And the regret of every single person who's passed away is that they didn't pray enough. And every single person wished to come back to either pray for the first time or become amongst the musallin

**[8:22]** or even if they were amongst the musallin, to pray two more rak'ahs and to have that closeness to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. So seek that closeness to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Let this be a lifelong pursuit that you work on your salah until the very last moment. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala make us the people of khushu'.

**[8:37]** May Allah 'Azza wa Jal make us the people who truly pray and who immerse ourselves in that. May Allah 'Azza wa Jal bring us close to him. Allahumma ameen. Jazakum Allahu khayran wa salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Al-Fatiha.
