[ Day 25 Du’a ] يا مُعَلِّمَ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ عَلِّمْنِيْ “Oh Teacher of Abraham! Teach me!” ## Transcript **[0:01]** Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Welcome back to Prayers of the Pious. Some of the most beautiful narrations that we have of du'as and practices are from a student narrating from their teacher what they saw. **[0:16]** And if you ever felt like as you were reading something that you were having a hard time comprehending it, or you were feeling disconnected from something, or you're trying to prepare for an exam, or you're trying to prepare for a lecture, or you're trying to prepare for something, or trying to comprehend a verse or a hadith that you got stuck. **[0:33]** This is a really powerful du'a. Ibn al-Qayyim narrates from his teacher, Imam bin Taymiyyah. He said that, I frequently used to hear him when he would get stuck in his studies. He would make this du'a and he would say, **[0:49]** Ya mu'allim Ibrahim, alimni. O teacher of Ibrahim, teach me. And some narrations mention, wa ya mufahima Sulaiman fahimni. O he who caused Sulaiman alayhi salam to understand, allow me to understand as well. **[1:09]** This is a powerful du'a, a powerful way that we could learn as we are getting stuck in certain things, or trying to understand things, to recognize that Allah is the one who grants knowledge and understanding and wisdom. And Allah is the one who grants relief. And beyond just the immediate implications of a du'a of this sort, of calling upon Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in this way, **[1:30]** is really the idea that you're connecting yourself to the Lord of the prophets. Because a lot of times you forget as you're reading the Qur'an, you forget as you're going through those du'as, that the same Lord who took care of those prophets, who rescued those prophets, **[1:46]** who heard them in their darkest times, is the same Lord that you call upon. The Lord of Zakariya is your Lord as well. The Lord of Ibrahim is your Lord as well. The Lord of Maryam is your Lord as well. The Lord of Isa is your Lord as well. **[2:01]** The Lord of Muhammad subhanahu wa ta'ala is your Lord as well. So when you read about the miracles that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala worked in their lives, recognize that He could work those same miracles in your life. And when you go through the daily difficulties or the daily trials or struggles that you may go through, **[2:19]** as you're trying to increase yourself, recognize that you have the Lord of Abraham on your side, the Lord of Ibrahim alayhi salam on your side. So again the du'a is, Ya Mu'addim Ibrahim, alimni, and in one narration, Ya Mufahimah Suleiman, fahimni, O teacher of Abraham, teach me, **[2:35]** and O He who granted understanding to Suleiman, to Solomon, grant me understanding as well. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, the Lord of the Prophets, grant us the station of the Prophets as well. Allahuma ameen. Jazakumullahu khayran. See you all next time inshaAllah.
