**[0:01]** I knew Islam was true in not one phase but three phases. The first phase was when I first read the Qur'an. I felt that this was different from any other sort of book that I had read before, text I had read before. It was speaking directly to me as opposed to other things that I had read were kind of talking about things.

**[0:22]** So that was phase one. Phase two was when I started practicing the Qur'an. Phase two was when I started praying. I started actually experimenting with prayer before I actually became a Muslim. And everything just made so much sense. The positions, the things that you have to say,

**[0:41]** the times of day, the cycles of sunlight and sunset that it kind of puts you in harmony with. It made so much sense and it was such a powerful experience. I felt that it was true in a very real way when I started experimenting with the prayer. And then the final phase, the final phase was when my son was born.

**[0:59]** Because I was already married when I accepted Islam. And when my son was born, just looking at that innocent baby and now knowing that I was responsible for being a role model for this person,

**[1:14]** I finally admitted to myself that Islam was the complete truth. And if I wanted to be the right type of example for this new child, that I had to embrace it entirely.
