**[0:00]** We're starting with Everyone had yet to a set of fun. So yeah, as-salamu alaykum, rahmatullahi wa barakatuh Alhamdulillah rabbil alameen wa salallahu wa sallim wa barak ala nabiyyina muhammadin wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallim tasliman kathiran thamma amma ba'd Welcome you back again from Valley Islamic Center here in the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan

**[0:18]** Tonight is the 24th May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala put barakah in our time in our night Ya rabbal alameen with Shaykh Omar Suleiman as we discuss together the book of Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah rahimahullah ta'ala Al-Wabil al-Sayyib, the downpour of blessings of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

**[0:34]** When you raise your voice with al-kalim al-tayyib, the beautiful words Words of remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala translated into The Remembrance of the Most Merciful So may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us among al-dhakirin wa al-dhakirat Ameen. Allah as I was preparing for this chapter particularly from point 31

**[0:51]** Those are following with us insha'Allah ta'ala the English copy page 120 again 120 on page Point 31 the Arabic Version will be a hundred page a hundred. That's again point 31 insha'Allah ta'ala

**[1:07]** Ibn Qayyim rahimahullahu azawajal he's gonna go on a tangent a little bit on point number 34 But it's a very interesting tangent insha'Allah. I'm very excited to start talking about that particular point But we begin with point number 31 and he's still discussing right now Fawa'id al-dhikr, the benefits of remembering Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

**[1:25]** So before we get to point 31 right now, I want to see a reflection insha'Allah ta'ala on this I think that a few people might be Wondering like how can you just keep reinforcing the same point over and over and over again? Like all right, we get the point do dhikr But if you realize there's an analogy to every other ibadah and every one of these points, what do I mean by that?

**[1:46]** So for example when he says In this point and the whole sort of like about that it's the easiest of the acts of worship So like there's an analogy there you ask yourself What are the easy acts of worship that have major benefits and there are plenty so you start to reflect and

**[2:03]** I want everyone to really understand that tadabbur The ability to contemplate and reflect on text It's something that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has given to everybody. It really is You know, I find that the most beautiful reflections come from people in prison

**[2:23]** The reflections of the people in prison like how many books were written in prison in Islamic history, by the way Many of these books were written in prison Many of our ulama, a lot in history even present by the way are writing books and his teacher Ibn Taymiyyah Rahimahullahu ta'ala from prisons. Yeah, so the letters in prison some of the most powerful works in history came from prison

**[2:44]** Risalah in prison, but even like average prisoner Sheikh You meet them someone who's a very basic simple Muslim someone who even converted to Islam recently But the ability to do tadabbur the ability to reflect it's important to understand that Allah

**[2:59]** Azza wa jal has given you that spiritual muscle that spiritual muscle is not found through hikmah. It's found through effort mujahidah finding the time Right Tafsir and sharh is when you give definitive answers to things this ayah means that this hadith means that

**[3:15]** Tadabbur is that you read these things contemplation and you say, you know one benefit I took from this one thing that I took From this one reflection you build and you build and you build and you build Everyone has to work that tadabbur and when you look at the destruction of the brain right now That's happening with all of these tools that were outsourcing our sincerity to outsourcing our relationship tools to

**[3:37]** Outsourcing our creativity to people don't have any more creativity because you you ask a machine to do everything for you, right? There's a creativity in tadabbur as well that's found and that's that's something you just have to keep on Flexing, you know speaking of memes, which I know you love memes. Yeah, there is an image the ones you sent to me the one

**[3:58]** There was an image of how a few years ago I saw this before AI and it was showing a child reading a book Versus a child watching TV Okay, and the child reading the book was basically there was a thought bubble and the imagery was popping up in the thought bubble

**[4:16]** Creativity creativity, right? Whereas a child that's glued to the TV everything is being given to them and so the thought bubble is empty You're not having to use your brain or use your heart So it's tadabbur actually merges the brain and the heart read the Qur'an that way Read the translation of the Qur'an that way if you don't understand Arabic read the translation of the Qur'an that way and you'll find some

**[4:36]** Powerful reflections that you can derive from it So that's that's the thing that I'll leave you with here is like Insha'Allah ta'ala if you're paying attention in these duroos and in these nights, you'll start to make connections To other acts of worship as well, and you'll start to grow and benefit bid-nillahi ta'ala as well

**[4:52]** Ameen. Sure. A lot of us will also point number 31 on the benefits of dhikr What benefits do I get from remembering Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala? Qala rahimahullah ta'ala annahu aysarul ibadat Wa huwa ajjaluha Wa akmanuha Ya'ni inna harakat al-lisan akhaffu harakati al-jawarih

**[5:11]** Wa aysuruha, wa law taharakat kul al-a'da'i min al-insan fil laylin wa al-nahar Kathrah harakat al-lisan lashaqqa alayhi ghayat al-mashaqqa Bal la yumkin dhalik. He says rahimahullah ta'ala remembrance is the easiest forms of worship and the most

**[5:28]** Noble and virtuous Indeed the movement of the tongue is the lightest and easiest compared to the moving Moving limbs of the body if any other part of the body was to move day and night like the tongue It would be extremely difficult rather. It is simply impossible

**[5:45]** Wallah, I mean we learned this also from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam when he said salawatullahi wa salamuhu alayhi one of the most popular adhkar Qal kalimatani Khafifatani ala al-lisan Habibatani ila al-Rahman thaqilatani fi al-mizan Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi subhanallahi al-adhim. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says there are two statements

**[6:05]** Now he said two words he says two statements they're very light on the tongue very light on the tongue Very beloved to the Most Merciful subhanahu wa ta'ala so heavy for you on the scale What are they? Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi subhanallahi al-adhim

**[6:22]** Have you guys memorized these words? So just saying those words They are very heavy in the scale and very light on the tongue as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam He mentioned and why subhanallahi wa bihamdihi subhanallahi al-adhim? Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi you praise Allah as well by freeing him from all imperfections and

**[6:41]** Affirming with his hamd you affirm all the attributes of perfection to him Subhanallahi al-adhim same thing you now also free him from any form of Imperfection or weakness and you affirm his greatness subhanahu wa ta'ala with these

**[6:57]** Few statements so you can imagine when you always remind yourself that you are now praising the most perfect praising the one and only the greatest Subhanahu wa ta'ala All this concept you keep reminding yourself It will put you in the right place in your life and with the worship with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

**[7:13]** Allah azawajal says allatheena yathkuroon allaha qiyaman wa qu'udan wa ala junubihim Those remember Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala standing sitting and even on their sides the tongue is a muscle and When you think about it's heavy lifting and it's heavy doing

**[7:29]** One of the things that People underestimate in fact the majority of what people underestimate is The actions of the tongue that what the tongue says is a deed It's amal and that's why even the Sahaba when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned about the tongue

**[7:44]** They said will someone you know what Mu'adh radiallahu anhu said subhanAllah Mu'adh who learned about dhikr and Was the scholar of the ummah and he said to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Would we even be held accountable for what we say because we generally don't think about speech as action and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam

**[8:02]** Said thakilatka ummuk may your mother lose you which is an expression Does anything cause a person to fall deep into the hellfire like hasa'id al-lisan the harvest of the tongue? So the tongue harvest the tongue lifts the tongue does and That's beautiful and that's scary at the same time. Ibn al-Jawzi rahimahullah said there's a rule

**[8:21]** I love this the statement of his he said think of you know Someone was asking this question, by the way, like it feels like dhikr is like a cheat code. All right So he said think of a robber who enters into a house and he only has you know

**[8:36]** A certain amount of time to steal from the house. How many of you have robbed the house before don't raise your hand All right Insha'Allah, you can make tawbah in the last ten nights, right? I've returned the belongings to the owner, but like he said like if a robber goes into a house, what does he steal?

**[8:51]** He looks for small precious valuables. Yeah, he doesn't take the TV All right. He doesn't take the big stuff. He looks for small precious valuables now khafif al-wazn Wa kathir al-thaman right Lightweight heavy value so look for what's lightweight and heavy value and that's a rule in general when it comes to good deeds

**[9:11]** Lightweight and heavy value, you know Sheikh. This is the same concept subhanAllah The whole idea of you know, look for the most valuable even if it was something little Well when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was approached by this man He said qala ya rasulallah inna shara'i al-islam qad kathurat alay. Like the rights of Islam are becoming too many

**[9:30]** Like I don't know where to start I'm overwhelmed basically he says Qal fadulluni ala amal Yuqarribuni min al-jannah wa yub'iduni min al-nar Just if you can teach me something I can do to bring me closer to Jannah and keep me far away from Jahannam What was the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam advised to him? Qal la yazal lisanuka ratban bi dhikrillah

**[9:48]** As long as you keep your tongue moist in the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala So look the man is asking the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to give me the most valuable thing That I can do that will substitute for all these good deeds that people fight for and work on

**[10:05]** What could I do and the Prophet gave him the most valuable thing and the lightest thing to carry along with you? That's the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. The expression of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Which is la yazal lisanuka ratban bi dhikrillah as long as you keep your tongue Moist with the remembrance of Allah, which means you have to move your tongue when you make dhikr. That's one thing second thing

**[10:25]** What does it mean to stay moist? SubhanAllah Allah azawajal how he created us as long as you move your tongue and you open your mouth you still salivate In order, of course to kind of like lubricate the tongue in the mouth and keep it, you know Fresh inside, but if you go quiet and you just if you if you stop or you close your mouth

**[10:44]** You stop salivating. Otherwise, you'll choke But subhanAllah when you go quiet you stop salivating. So the Prophet says keep your tongue moist. What does that mean? Keep moving it So you can continue Again to salivate so in this case to stay moist all the way subhanAllah

**[11:03]** You know the hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said the most hated person is the one whose tongue moves like The cow Slaps right and left like if you see the the tongue of an animal slapping outside Right, like think of internal versus external someone whose tongue slaps right and left means he talks about everything

**[11:20]** All right, and there's also an element of like hey, there's an internal speech move your tongue But keep it gated at the same time You know, Imam Ali radiallahu anhu is narrated that he mentioned that the tongue has two gates

**[11:36]** Prison your teeth and your lips Your tongue is behind a prison keep it behind its prison Right. Remember Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and keep it imprisoned So that you're not just swinging it right and left and talking about people and talking about things that are of no benefit Unless it's for good as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says man

**[11:53]** Kana yu'min billahi wa al-yawm al-akhir falyaqul khayran aw liyasmut. Whoever believes in Allah and the final day Let him speak good or remain quiet So if you don't have anything good to say, then you better be silent Number number 32 rahimahullah. He says here

**[12:10]** The benefit of dhikr annahu dhiraa' al-jannah, that's an interesting thing. SubhanAllah people. That's what jannah means. It's actually it's the Plant in the Cultivation of the soil of Jannah and plant the trees in Jannah He says fi jareer al-tarfar rafa'ahu jaddan yani an Abdillah ibn Mas'ud

**[12:29]** Radiallahu anhu qal qala rasulallahu sallallahu alayhi wa sallam laqitu Ibrahima Laylata usri bi faqal ya Muhammad Aqri ummataka minni al-salam wa akhbirhum anna al-jannah tayyibat al-turbah Athabat al-ma' wa annaha qee'an wa anna ghirasaha subhanallah

**[12:47]** Wa al-hamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wa allahu akbar So in this hadith, Abdullahi ibn Mas'ud radiallahu anhu he says the Messenger of Allah sallallahu Alayhi wa sallam, he said when he went on this night of Isra' wal Mi'raj when he went to the heavens Salawatullahi wa salamuhu alayhi he said I met Ibrahim alayhis salam

**[13:06]** Brothers and sisters. I want you to listen to this part from the hadith Sheikh. This is very interesting observation. SubhanAllah The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He meets Ibrahim alayhis salam Ibrahim alayhis salam his forefather obviously look at the beautiful Meeting of a father and son and what is the the grandfather is telling his son right now?

**[13:26]** To deliver to his children. What did he say? Aqri ummatika minni al-salam He said please recite my salam. Give them my salam So Ibrahim alayhis salam, he said salam alaykum to you. So we say allahumma salli wa sallim ala Ibrahim

**[13:42]** Ameen right. He says give them my salam and that's more like a hey attention grabber Now that he grabbed your attention. He wants to give you something important He says wa akhbirhum anna al-jannah tayyibat al-turbah athbat al-ma' says let them know that

**[14:00]** Jannah has a pure rich fragrant soil Beautiful this is called athbat al-ma' the water there is sweet and fresh Wa annaha qee'an and it's vast which means a huge empty land

**[14:15]** I don't mean empty but a huge land basically Which means you have so much real estate you have so much space right now to work on Qala, wa anna ghirasaha subhanallah wa al-hamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wa allahu akbar Since you have this huge land, how can you plant trees over there? So to plant the trees on this land

**[14:35]** He says you need to pronounce subhanallah wa al-hamdulillah Wa la ilaha illallah wa allahu akbar you praise Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala by removing all imperfections From his attributes. Alhamdulillah affirming all the beautiful perfect attributes of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

**[14:51]** Affirming his oneness and he's the only one deserved to be worshiped subhanahu wa ta'ala and his greatness when you say allahu akbar So Ibrahim alayhis salam is basically is given us right now. MashaAllah advice. Hey, you want to have a nice beautiful Backyard in Jannah

**[15:07]** You need to work on building and planting all these trees This is the analogy part and it's real like if every day you're in Construction and Landscaping of your new house like I want you to imagine if you're building a house for yourself And every day on the way home you pass by that house that you're building

**[15:22]** And you want to see the progress of the construction like right now with our home here at VRIC, right? We're building a new home, right? We're expanding right and you see the the progress of the construction if Every single day you ask yourself

**[15:37]** What did I build in Jannah today? What did I plant in Jannah today? How's my home looking in Jannah today? How's my garden looking in Jannah today? And if you see yourself every day in construction and landscaping your home in Jannah, then that's it La tadri'u al-maw'idu al-maut ya'ni la tajidu ma'wa innahu illa ma banaytahu hunah

**[15:55]** Neha Amalu kam fi al-akhirah Imam Ali radiallahu anhu you won't find a home to live in in the hereafter except the one that you built for yourself here You're in construction. Your home is under construction. Your garden is under construction every day. Ask yourself. What's the progress looking like? What's the progress looking like and Ibrahim alayhis salam is giving us he's like look I'm there

**[16:14]** I've seen it and so tell them because they haven't seen it like it's amazing It really is what we say it is It's really that easy to just say subhanallah alhamdulillah Wa la ilaha illallah wa allahu akbar and to build and to construct says we're right now here in Texas in the spring, right?

**[16:31]** It's the beautiful time and amazing season to just observe trees how they stop blossoming How they start changing colors and how they become lush and green subhanAllah your trees in Texas alhamdulillah We have seasons Texas just so that you know Especially North Texas, we're in North Texas, right? But I go back to the backyard. I have mashaAllah nice beautiful

**[16:53]** Fig tree in the back there and Just looking at how the tree is prodding. There's a peach tree as well, too And other trees alhamdulillah tawamun But anyway, so the fig tree and peach trees the peach tree already actually has all these amazing beautiful pink

**[17:11]** Flowers Amazing you look at it just like subhanAllah you marvel at it and this was planted only three years ago And I want to see such coming out just like la ilaha illallah Well, I remind you with the hadith the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam if this how it looks like Can you imagine how excited you'll be in Jannah when you see the trees you planted the trees you planted you planted?

**[17:29]** That's the thing like, you know, my father Is true fallah, you know, he's like a true farmer like so our house in Louisiana The house wasn't like nearly the size of just what he would plant in the back all the time So you had all these trees when you pick your own orange when you pick your own lemon when you pick your own fruits like your

**[17:47]** Own vegetables it already tastes that much better So in Jannah bima kuntum ta'malun, right? This is your work. This is your tree You planted this here it is now eat from it and enjoy the The excitement here just the excitement to go back and see the tree you planted is now mashaAllah is sprouting and it's alive

**[18:08]** Can you imagine when you go to Jannah and you see all this janan all these gardens and it's like wow Where did all these things come from? I know some people might say Sheikh if I can get one one tree in Jannah, I'm happy. Allahumma ameen. Right Why are you selling yourself?

**[18:24]** Yeah, I mean settling for such a very low bar Yeah When you can get all these beyond that Opportunity for everybody to have mashaAllah all these beautiful gardens in Jannah. May Allah give us these gardens. Ya rabbal alamin Right now someone might think like, you know, if I just get in Jannah, I'm good

**[18:40]** All right, if you ever go to like a really really nice vacation or resort It's way better than what you dwell in on a regular basis. But then you see Like the standard there and you've got like the cheapest room in the resort At first you were looking at that resort. I can't wait to get there. But then you got there and you're like man like that

**[18:59]** That's where I want to be like the people I want to be with In Jannah when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam talks about like the people that are in al-ghuraf Al-ghurufatu liman sabara may Allah make us amongst them the highest level Ameen their homes are like stars in the sky to the rest of the people of Jannah Allahu akbar Everyone else is looking like what what are those stars now part of the experience of Jannah is that no one feels left out

**[19:19]** So it's not like you're gonna be sad. You'll be happy wherever you are But Aim for the highest of the highest of the highest And bismillah you have a lord That is gracious enough and generous enough to give it to you despite your shortcomings because that's the entire point Of his mercy and his fadl his his grace and his forgiveness that you count on May Allah forgive us our shortcomings

**[19:35]** I know a lot of us maybe in a moment like this to say like As part of If I could just cross the bridge over Jahannam, I'll be happy And again, I want to

**[19:50]** Reiterate your point Shaykh. I said don't sell yourself to such a very Low standard Like you go you pay for this beautiful resort because you got it on discount, right? And then you go in there and just like It's nice. But when you look next door you're just like wow It's different. It's a different thing. SubhanAllah. So may Allah make us among the people of al-ghurafat highest in Jannah No one gets treated like a like a Priceline or a Hotwire customer

**[20:10]** Like you purchase the low room, you know, you go over there Everybody gets the quality The best insha'Allah Point number 33 in regards to the benefits of dhikr. He says

**[20:26]** He said On this point, it's very interesting when he says That the recompense which means the the consequence That you get for dhikr. He says the virtue earned through remembrance is unlike any other deed

**[20:47]** Like for salah you get if you make jama'ah 27 times when you read Qur'an for every letter 10 merits when you Fast you have 70 years away from Jahannam like there is specific standard for that, right? He said when it comes to dhikr Just for little good deeds for something so simple as just uttering few words of remembrance by your tongue

**[21:04]** The the the amount of reward that you get for it is unbelievable unmatched by any other good deed. So he mentioned example over here Dhikr He said if you count this dhikr a hundred times this dhikr is what

**[21:21]** Perhaps maybe most of us know this du'a Or this dhikr most of us know this dhikr

**[21:36]** If you mention this hundred times what you get out of it You get the reward equivalent to setting freeing 10 slaves

**[21:58]** And we know how how valuable how virtuous is to set someone free in our deen Or this dhikr most of them know this dhikr If you mention this hundred time what you get out of it You get the reward equivalent to setting freeing 10 slaves

**[22:15]** And we know how how valuable how uh virtuous is to set someone free in our deen In the Qur'an, there are so many good deeds or I mean expiation of sins that can be done by freeing a slave. So imagine he says by just mentioning this line

**[22:32]** of dhikr you set free 10 slaves And a hundred hasanat will be written to you on your account like you add 100 hasanat to your account

**[22:47]** And a hundred sins or a hundred would say, yeah sins will be erased and wiped out from your records. We talk about the minor ones And he says Um And it will be a protection from the shaitan from the morning until the evening

**[23:06]** And number five He says and no one would have done anything better than them unless someone who does more more than which he has done

**[23:22]** Five amazing you could say rewards or virtues for just saying one simple line. So think about this Now Sheikh it's like the idea of

**[23:37]** doing transactions like the economy of the akhirah versus the economy of this dunya right, like you think about like now like the conversation about inflation. How much is your dollar worth today? How much is it worth? You know, how much was it worth a year ago? How much was it like the idea that you get so much more?

**[23:56]** So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala even when He tells us like on the day of Jumu'ah right you know You go back to work after Jumu'ah, keep remembering Allah so that you can find success

**[24:13]** So the true success is going to be there. It's like the du'a of as-suq, the du'a of entering into the marketplace Shirk This dhikr but adding yuhyi wa yumit

**[24:29]** He gives life and He gives death and He is ever living and He does not die Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned a narration that a person would have alf alf, a million hasanat and remove a million sayyi'at right and have a home built for him and be raised by a million darajat and have a home built for him in Paradise

**[24:47]** like you're like that's easy But be real once when you go shopping you're set on buying a product and this narration is a way of keeping you calibrated when you enter into the marketplace right, even online shopping, by the way when you go online just say the du'a

**[25:04]** I don't know if it's going to work or not, but it still has still has benefit to it. Even if you don't get that exact reward when you go online and you do your online shopping just say la ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah lahul mulku wa lahul hamd

**[25:45]** yuhyi wa yumit wa huwa hayyun la yamut biyadihil khayr wa huwa ala kulli shay'in qadir right, and we learn again to calibrate like you know what, the fact that I'm out here buying this stuff

**[26:03]** you know Allah azzawajal gave me the ability but I need to stay calibrated as I'm in this moment of bounty from Allah

**[26:18]** to remember who the true provider is what what matters and to not lose myself in the place where people lose themselves

**[26:34]** so these ad-adhkar are not just like get your rewards like check this off, it's like okay I did this today no no no, it's a way of living

**[26:49]** it keeps you calibrated in the moment and the last one I'll mention subhanallahu wa bihamdihi adada khalqihi wa rida nafsihi

**[27:05]** wa zinata arshihi wa midada kalimatihi right, if you say this 10 times, for example, in the morning

**[27:20]** Allahumma salli ala Muhammad adada khalqika wa rida nafsika wa zinata arshika wa midada kalimatika you're basically asking Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala for the maximum amount of hasanat

**[27:39]** for what you've said and to send the maximum salawat on the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam but if you say it just once because this hadith the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam he passes by Juwayriya

**[28:02]** radiallahu anha, and she's saying, you know, remembering Allah subhanallahu wa bihamdihi subhanallahu wa bihamdihi and it's like after salatul fajr and he comes back and she's still there

**[28:18]** and he says, you know, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says to her I just said three statements after I left you that would outweigh all of what you just said

**[28:34]** and those three statements of course are subhanallahu wa bihamdihi adada khalqihi wa rida nafsihi wa zinata arshihi wa midada kalimatihi, three times and the scholars they say that Juwayriya radiallahu anha obviously

**[28:51]** the dhikr was more beloved to her than what the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam suggested not that this was less beneficial but these are the different forms of the sea and I remind you again to talk about the minor sins but can you imagine how many bad things we do throughout the day

**[29:10]** if you just sit down consciously and with mindful dhikr you say subhanallahu wa bihamdihi a hundred times you get all these out of your records can you imagine how many opportunities you've missed throughout the years for missing saying this du'a or

**[29:25]** this dhikr every single day? How much time is it gonna take from you? How much time will it take to say subhanallahu wa bihamdihi a hundred times? Not much. He also mentioned that he says qala Muslim radiallahu ta'ala anhu, qala Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam la-an aqula subhanallah walhamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wallahu akbar ahabbu ilayya mimma tala'at alayhish shams. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says if I say

**[29:42]** like I would love to say subhanallah walhamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wallahu akbar. He says if I say that just saying this every single day ahabbu ilayya mimma tala'at alayhish shams, it is more beloved to me than what the sun rises upon. Pay attention to the words. That means is better to me than the whole dunya. These are the things that plant trees in Jannah. So anything that gains in Jannah is more beloved to me than everything in this world right?

**[29:59]** There's a consistency here in the methodology of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and here he says The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says whoever says that in the morning in the evening and I hope that you guys did not miss the opportunity to say that today twice one in the morning and once in the evening and what is this dhikr?

**[30:14]** that I'm pleased with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala as my Lord and I'm pleased with Islam as my religion and with Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam rasulan, and with Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and with Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam as my Prophet he said if you say that then it is right upon Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that He makes him pleased like Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will please you can you imagine just for saying that statement in the morning and the evening

**[30:30]** and you get Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will be pleased with you and He will please you as Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says so you're pleased with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and Allah will be pleased with you and you can imagine when Allah is pleased with you what kind of reward you will get simply just from saying these few words so I hope my dear brothers and sisters that you don't miss the opportunity really to make all these adhkar on a daily basis it doesn't take much effort but all what it needs is just mindfulness to remind yourself the idea is like what does that du'a even mean?

**[30:47]** are you actually pleased with Allah as your Lord? that means I don't want any Lord other than Him I'm pleased with who He is and I'm pleased with what He commanded me to do wa bil-Islami dinan, are you pleased with Islam? when you complain about the religion say it's too hard, these restrictions don't make sense, I don't agree with this

**[31:02]** then when you say wa bil-Islami dinan you don't really mean it wa bi Muhammadin sallallahu alayhi wa sallam nabiyyan are you pleased with who He was sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and what His sunnah is alayhi salatu was-salam because if you have issues and you pick and choose and say I don't like this, I don't like that he's not the best example for me then you don't really mean it

**[31:17]** so there has to be an actual rida in the testimony to that rida there has to be an actual being pleased with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and with Islam and with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and of course when you enter into your grave these are the three questions who is your Lord, who is your Prophet, what is your religion so imagine if every single day and night you've been saying raditu billahi rabban wa bil-Islami dinan wa bi Muhammadin sallallahu alayhi wa sallam nabiyyan

**[31:33]** then you get in your grave, man rabbuka, Allah ma dinuka, Islam man nabiyyuka, Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam it comes because I was testifying to this every single day

**[31:49]** now it's a new day and a new life and despite the circumstances because I was consistent with renewing I'm pleased with Allah as my Lord, I'm pleased with Islam as my religion I'm pleased with the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam as my Prophet throughout every single circumstance in my life then it doesn't matter how severe the circumstances in the grave are it comes out because that's how I actually lived my life

**[32:04]** and what I testified to on a daily basis you know sometimes Sheikh, people would say well I got too busy, I was distracted you know I didn't have time for this and that that reminds me with all these excuses will be lame

**[32:19]** when you think of Ali bin Abi Talib radiallahu ta'ala anhu wa rada remember the story you mentioned yesterday when Fatimah radiallahu anha the daughter of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam she asked for a helper it was too much for her to do the housework and taking care of other things and so on so she wanted a help

**[32:36]** so she went to ask the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam if he could you know when they get from the war spoils she gets a help and she didn't find him so when the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam stopped by the house A'ishah said yeah your daughter came and asked for such and such

**[32:51]** so he goes to their house and Fatimah radiallahu anha is already about to go to sleep and he sits between them and he goes look shall I guide you to something if you say it will be better for you than having all the help in the world basically it's only to say subhanallah 33 times alhamdulillah 33 times Allahu akbar 34 times

**[33:08]** that's when you're in bed like you're in bed about to fall asleep instead of scrolling up and down your phone just making that dhikr subhanallah 33 times alhamdulillah 33 times Allahu akbar 34 times he said that is better for you than having a servant or a helper in your day and night so Ali bin Abi Talib radiallahu anhu he says I never ever, I never ever stopped saying this

**[33:24]** since I learned that from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam so someone wants to outsmart Ali radiallahu anhu so Ali radiallahu anhu he says not even yawm Siffin not even the day of the battle of Siffin I mean you're in the middle of the battle it's a huge battle

**[33:40]** a lot of distraction a lot of you know of course things to manage and strategy it was the most difficult time to stay focused perhaps on anything else so he asked him he said not even on the day of Siffin Ali bin Abi Talib says not even on the day of Siffin like even the battle even fighting

**[33:55]** cannot stop me from making that dhikr and remembering Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala so for those who say I'm too busy you know I have so many things to do and so on and so on just keep your morning dhikr and evening dhikr my dear brothers and sisters please don't do this to yourself just curious survey what do you guys think is harder the dhikr after fajr or the dhikr between asr and maghrib

**[34:10]** after fajr or what do you all think which one's harder to keep up asr how many of you say after asr the majority and actually Ibn Mas'ud radiallahu anhu said that it's twice as beloved

**[34:26]** because you're more likely to be able to knock out the morning dhikr but then like once you've gone to work and you're already in like the drill of the day like you're not even, you're not even there you're not even put together like at least you pray fajr

**[34:43]** you do that dhikr in the morning adhkar as-sabah are easier than adhkar al-masa' and adhkar al-masa' are more rewardable and he said in the day of Arafah the end of the day of Arafah is better than the beginning of the day of Arafah when the sun is about to set versus when the sun has risen

**[34:59]** but you got to build into that right so the busier you are the more beloved dhikr to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala because that means that the busyness did not distract you from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that you remembered Allah even in your busiest times dhikr is not just hey I've got some free time on my hand

**[35:15]** let me just go ahead and say this stuff now so basically when you're in your busiest moment of the day and night or even event of your life and you take a break from all of this to remember Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you're showing your Lord that you put Him as a priority that you're always mindful of Him subhanahu wa ta'ala even when you have all the excuses to be busy

**[35:30]** and to be distracted but you say no no no I am going to remember Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in that moment so may Allah make us again min adhkari Allahi kathiran wa adhkarati rabbil-alamin Sheikh now point number 34 that's a very interesting point he's gonna repeat few things he mentioned earlier but he will elaborate on something very interesting

**[35:45]** it's a bit of tangent but one of beautiful tangent insha'Allah he goes of the benefits of adhkar number 34 anna dawama dhikri rabbika tabaraka wa ta'ala yujibu al-amana min nisyanihi alladhi huwa sababu shaqa'il-abdi fi ma'ashihi wa ma'adihi he says continually remembering the Lord brings about security brings about security from forgetting Him subhanahu wa ta'ala

**[36:01]** it is this forgetfulness that will be the cause of the servant's unhappiness in this life and the next if you guys remember we talked about this probably last night or the night before that when we said that one of the main reasons why people go through anxiety, depression

**[36:16]** and we qualify that of course not the only reason but we say one of the main reasons for that is when they're heedless heedlessness, al-ghaflah is one of the main reasons people they find emptiness inside them

**[36:32]** that emptiness, that void if they're unable to fill it with something meaningful it makes them stressed out they become anxious, they're worried they're just becoming depressed they don't know what to do they're lost because there's so much emptiness in there so he says over here

**[36:47]** dawama dhikr, the continuing remembering of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala it will give you that safety from having that emptiness from having that void inside your heart how so? because he says because that forgetfulness that heedlessness

**[37:03]** forgetfulness about Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mashallah Allah opened one door for him to success and she said I liked you better when you were poor like you were different right? like when things got better for you you actually became like a worse human being so that's arrogance you understand?

**[37:18]** like you forget where you came from and how many ayat in the Qur'an where Allah 'azza wa jal reminds us where we came from okay number two you forget your purpose and if you forget your purpose then what's the effect? you prefer the dunya to the akhira

**[37:34]** so shahwa takes over desire takes over and so you start to constantly pursue your desires and this is what Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah will talk about like you don't know what benefits you anymore and what harms you anymore you don't actually know what's good for you anymore and you think about like a person who's high

**[37:50]** or who's drugged up right? and in their mind like I'm having a blast like I'm smiling, laughing you know in a state of intoxication they don't realize they're making a fool of themselves they don't realize that they're ruining their life because in that moment of intoxication

**[38:06]** they don't know what's good for them anymore they don't know what benefits them anymore they don't know they're not even looking for that they're in the high of the moment over the constants right? of the existence and so you forget your purpose so you forget where you came from

**[38:21]** you forget your purpose and when it comes to ghaflah ghaflah you forget what makes you happy what actually fills you what actually sustains you right? and so this is what it means ansahum anfusahum

**[38:36]** that Allah 'azza wa jal causes them to forget themselves subhanAllah Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah beautifully explained that he says over here he says

**[39:07]** so if a servant neglects himself he turns away from what benefits him disregards him completely and becomes distracted with other things obviously then there is no escape from corruption and his own destruction

**[39:23]** similar to the person who has land an orchard or cattle which he can only maintain by standing over them and continuously taking care of them if he is neglecting and forgets about them and becomes distracted thereby wasting the opportunity to bring benefit to them

**[39:39]** then they will become damaged which means they are going to die no doubt so imagine like you said shaykh somebody he thinks that his joy is just to always live you know kind of free in this world so he doesn't care about

**[39:54]** working, learning, aspiring to high goals and so on because in the moment it seems so beautiful just to be going after your desires and low interest of life and so on so because it's fun it's nice but then they realize they've ruined everything for themselves

**[40:09]** how many people in their young age they do that mistake and later on in life they look back and they say wow I wish and I wish I wish someone told me this before or someone you know told me this before and now we see people online every now and then

**[40:24]** coming back again who were pursuing this dunya like crazy because they've been told in order to be happy you have to have the money and now their target was to go over the highest paying jobs the highest paying careers and putting a name and fame to themselves

**[40:40]** so they go all the way up there but then they realize at some point that's not bringing them happiness at all and they ruined everything about themselves and by the way that's a gift from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that you get disappointed and dejected from the dunya while you're still alive and you can rewrite your course

**[40:56]** because too many people will only have that on the day of judgment where they'll feel betrayed by it all it's a gift from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that you kind of figure out like hey this isn't what it's been made out to be this really isn't giving me what I thought it would give me and you know what I thought about Shaykh Hasan like look at the beginning of the ayah يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلْتَنظُرْ نَفْسٌ مَا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍ

**[41:15]** O you who believe be mindful of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and pay attention to what you invested in tomorrow what is tomorrow? the day of judgment al-ghad is the day of judgment here Allah called the day of judgment tomorrow so pay attention to what you've invested in tomorrow

**[41:30]** وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ be mindful of Allah Allah knows what you do then وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ نَسُوا اللَّهَ فَأَنسَاهُمْ أَنفُسَهُمْ don't be like those who forgot Allah and so Allah caused them to forget themselves my investment, my investment, my investment and dhikr becomes the ultimate form of investment

**[41:46]** in the hereafter in this regard Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah Shaykh he refers to the ayah in Surah al-Kahf where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says وَلَا تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُ فُرُطًا he says and he refers to the ayah when Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says don't listen

**[42:01]** don't obey the person أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُ عَن ذِكْرِنَا that made his heart completely heedless from the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and this person اتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ as a result started following his desires which means destroying himself unfortunately وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُ فُرُطًا

**[42:16]** and his affairs were all they've been lost he says this is the one whose affair has been lost and his well being wasted away because their heart is closed from the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and now they only follow their desires

**[42:31]** obviously and as a result they wasted themselves and their energy and their potential and their capabilities and their youthful years subhanAllah for something that completely will be useless to them in the dunya before the akhira one of the biggest lessons that you all can take from this is don't follow people

**[42:46]** who don't have an attachment to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala your role models are people that fall into this category Allah is explicitly telling you don't listen to these people don't follow these people they can't give you anything like when some of the sahaba they heard the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam talk about the soothsayers

**[43:01]** of the time and they said Ya Rasulullah sometimes they say things that are true and he said لَيْسُوا بِشَيْءٍ they're upon nothing they're upon nothing they get one thing right and they get 99 things wrong and they decorate the one thing that's right

**[43:16]** with 99 things that are wrong and so the people that you set as your role models the people that you set as your guides in life if someone has fallen into this category where Allah caused them to forget themselves where they don't even know who they are how can they tell you who to be

**[43:31]** so look at who your role models are and look at who these people that you're taking as gurus are in life right these people that will guide you if they don't have Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala they really don't have anything Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah he continues on this point he says there is no way

**[43:46]** to ensure safety from this except the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and being attached completely attached to him keeping the tongue ever moist from the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala until it inhabits a place as important that his very life

**[44:01]** depends on it like his food lack of which would ruin his body same thing lack of dhikr would ruin his heart so he mentioned here like look you need to keep that in mind that in order for you to find that safety from this emptiness and void

**[44:16]** that would destroy you completely you have to fill your heart with the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala only then you'll be able to focus on your mission your purpose and accomplish that which is good for you in the dunya before even

**[44:31]** the akhira he said rahimahullah at some point he says if there was no other benefit to the remembrance of Allah except this single benefit which means look it's good for you it's good for you in the dunya you become focused you become

**[44:46]** you know principled you become someone who really has purpose in life always doing the right thing if that's the only benefit he says then it is sufficient for you as you know focusing on it or become sufficient for you in this dunya so he said

**[45:01]** if there was no other benefit to the remembrance of Allah except this single benefit it would be sufficient for you in this dunya so just remembering Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala can benefit you in the dunya before the akhirah then what happens if somebody turns away from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

**[45:16]** he says he recorded the ayah qala Allahu ta'ala wa man a'rada 'an dhikri fa inna lahu ma'ishatan danka wa nahshuruhu yawmal qiyamati a'ma but if anyone turns away from my remembrance his life shall be dark and narrow and we will gather him on the day of resurrection blind so his life shall be dark

**[45:31]** and narrow and we will gather him on the day of resurrection blind so his life will be dark and narrow somebody might say but wait a minute what about all these you know billionaires and this and that yeah look how they live cannibalism

**[45:46]** pedophilia all these you know degenerative behaviors subhanAllah and akhlaq and manners what kind of life is that they might look happy to you but in reality they're miserable which is why they end their life sometimes you know

**[46:01]** at some certain point so that's subhanAllah it's a very important thing turning away from dhikr of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala you're done and Allah said in the other ayah qala wa man ya'shu 'an dhikr ar-Rahman nuqayyid lahu shaytanan fa huwa lahu qareen if anyone turns away

**[46:16]** from the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala a shaytan will go after him khalas dhikr of Allah is not there so you don't have the shield the shaytan gets into your heart and then he is now become your guide can you imagine if the shaytan

**[46:31]** where would that shaytan take you may Allah protect us from this ya rabbal 'alamin if you look at it subhanAllah it's a long tangent like you said two things I want you to pay attention to number one Allah says that this person nahshuruhu yawmal qiyamati

**[46:46]** a'ma he is raised on day of judgment blind and what does he say rabbi lima hashartani a'ma wa qad kuntu basira my lord why did you make me blind and I used to be able to see he attributes to Allah the blindness he doesn't attribute to Allah that I used to be able

**[47:01]** to see I used to be able to see not that oh Allah why did I lose my sight when you used to let me see no why did you take away my vision when I used to be able to see which speaks to like his lack of adab with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala his lack of

**[47:16]** etiquette with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala like this is what abu'u laka bi ni'matika 'alayya wa abu'u laka bi dhanbi I admit your blessing upon me hence I admit my sin my shortcoming so he doesn't acknowledge the blessing of Allah upon him so he forgot himself he forgot where he came from who taught you

**[47:31]** who gave you the ability to see in the first place for you to complain now that your vision is gone what made you so entitled to that blessing but when he when he says I know shaykh we're running short on time but like compare the two ayahs okay sorry he'll have a suffocating life

**[47:46]** okay he'll be blind on the day of judgment compare the two ayahs okay he'll be blind on the day of judgment compare the two ayahs okay he'll have a suffocating life okay he'll be blind on the day of judgment compare the two ayahs okay he'll be blind on the day of judgment compare that to the ayah

**[48:01]** where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says whoever does a good deed whether it's a man or a woman we will give them a good life a good life

**[48:16]** so instead of instead of a suffocating life and we'll give them their reward in accordance with the best of what they used to do in comparison to that he'll be blind

**[48:31]** on the day of judgment and complaining and afraid and that's what he means by Shaykh ibn al-Qayyim he said that dunya for the servant of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala who engages in dhikr frequently is his jannah his jannah on earth is the remembrance of Allah

**[48:46]** subhanahu wa ta'ala his jannah on earth is remembering Allah 'azza wa jal and that's when he went on another tangent he says basically that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala he mentioned for the believers two rewards one will be in the dunya that their life

**[49:01]** will be contentment alhamdulillah they're happy and so on and also they're still having the reward that comes in the akhirah so they have jannah on earth and jannah in the hereafter but the people who has the dunya in their hands and they're pursuing the dunya they think they're getting

**[49:16]** they're pursuing happiness and joy but they end up losing everything because their heart is empty he brings here an example from his teacher Shaykh ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullahu ta'ala I want to actually go over this inshallah maybe we conclude

**[49:31]** that point the importance of jama'ah the importance of role models wallahi in our lives the importance of mentors in our lives like many of us today unfortunately we move in this life roaming around you know without any proper guide unfortunately

**[49:46]** our dependence on technology and youtube and channel and so on we start depending so much on speakers only because but that kind of connection mentorship where you learn closely from your teacher is being lost

**[50:01]** and here he rahimahullahu ta'ala he speaks about his teacher Shaykh ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullahu ta'ala he said he said

**[50:23]** he said and he means by that the jannah of dhikr of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

**[50:38]** he said another time he said to me the very famous popular statement of Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah he says

**[50:56]** he said what can my enemies do to me this is a very powerful statement jama'ah one of the most popular statements of Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah he was a man of justice he was a man of principle

**[51:11]** he was a man who was fighting against tyranny you know in the society and so on and him being so brave and standing for his principles and statements led him to prison until he died rahimahullah wa ta'ala so one time

**[51:26]** when they told him you know you're going to keep going to prison again he said these words what my enemies what they're going to do to me what can my enemies do to me I have in my heart both paradise and my garden if I travel

**[51:41]** it is with me and never leaving me my imprisonment is a time to be in seclusion and solitude that's good good for me I will sit down and enjoy my dhikr with Allah solitude with my Lord to be killed is martyrdom shahadah

**[51:56]** and to be exiled from my land is a spiritual journey very positive person but he said look I have Allah in my heart and if I have Allah in my heart all my efforts are going to be good inshallah wa ta'ala I think Sheikh, like just pause here

**[52:11]** for a moment and give it like an actual thought Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah says when we used to get bothered like when we'd lose heart we'd go visit our teacher in prison so he'd say these things while he was

**[52:26]** in prison you know I want to bring subhanallah to the mention Imam Jamil rahimahullah ta'ala passed away rahimahullah just a few months ago in prison every time I spoke to him on the phone subhanallah

**[52:41]** I was like he was the one that was free and I was like what's going on here even if you remember when he addressed us through the phone on the microphone here this is a man that's been in solitary confinement almost two decades you know most of his time

**[52:56]** was spent in a dark hole but he still spoke like that and that shows you when you enter into jannah no one can pluck you out no one can take you out of that jannah that's actually the point just like the actual jannah when you enter into jannah there's no exiting it

**[53:11]** once you enter into jannatul yaqeen that jannah of certainty there is no one who can take you out of it and so if you ask yourself right now this is a difficult question am I in jannah

**[53:26]** am I in hell or am I somewhere in between in terms of my certainty in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala because if I have that certainty in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala then I'm in a jannah right now I'm roaming a jannah already it's like someone told you hey tomorrow

**[53:43]** you're gonna get a million dollars right tomorrow something this great thing is gonna happen to you tomorrow the rest of the day is easy you move through the rest of the day because you already know what's being given to you tomorrow that's what Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah is saying

**[53:58]** he's like I'm good what's it gonna take now how many years has it been since Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah died in prison he died in prison right almost you know how many years almost a thousand years 700, 800 years

**[54:14]** right and look we're still talking about him we're still talking about these words he said from a dirty prison cell so you have to ask yourself like where am I in regards to my certainty in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala if I'm certain in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala then no one can pluck me out of that certainty

**[54:31]** not your enemies or your own anxiety and your own concern about what the future holds because you're so certain in the future that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has already prepared for you you know when the students used to go and visit him in prison so he says, Ibn al-Qayyim, he says

**[54:46]** wa qala li marratan al-mahbusu man hubisa qalbuhu 'an rabbihi ta'ala wa al-ma'suru man asarahu hawa he said to him, he says, the real prisoner is the one whose heart is imprisoned from his Lord and the true captive is someone captured by his desire

**[55:03]** like that's the real prisoner, because I'm free and even in prison he said when he entered prison, which was a castle or fortress basically in Damascus today qala wa lamma udkhila ila al-qal'a wa sara dakhila suriha nadhara ilayhi wa qala fa duriba baynahum bi surin lahu babun batinuhu fihi ar-rahmah wa dhahiruhu min qibalihi al-'adhab

**[55:24]** he said, he caught the eye when he was sent into prison, into that fort and inside the walls he looked at the walls and he said, according to the ayah of Surat al-Hadid and a wall will be placed between them with a gate in it, on the inside of which there will be mercy, but before those exterior lies the punishment

**[55:44]** like he said, I am alhamdulillah in a beautiful place, in a good place, they are the ones who are being punished following their desires, going after their dunya, while I'm here in prison Ibn al-Qayyim, then he quotes that, he says wa allahi I swear by Allah

**[56:01]** ma ra'aytu ahadan atyaba 'ayshan minhu qatt he says, I've never seen anybody, he says, I swear to God I've never seen anyone with a better life than his he says qala ma'a ma kana fihi min dayqi al-'aysh even in spite of the hardship that he had to endure being in prison

**[56:18]** wa khilafi ar-rafahiyah and the absence and the complete absence of luxury and comfort bal didda he had everything the opposite to it wa ma'a ma kana fihi min al-habs even though he was in prison and also at-tahdid wa al-irjaf

**[56:33]** being threatened at all times wa ma'a dhalika min atyabi an-nasi 'ayshan he still, in spite of all this, his life was the most pleasant among the people and he said wa kunna idha ishtadda bina al-khawfu wa sa'at minna adh-dhunun

**[56:49]** he said, whenever we were scared and we're not seen in good light among people or we felt lonely, we went to see him can you imagine the free people going to see the one in prison the free people, those who are on the outside

**[57:04]** when they get scared, they go to the captive they go to the prisoner he said, could you please inspire us, encourage us, subhanallah because he's there, he's the free one he's the one who's enjoying that life, being with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

**[57:19]** qala fa kunna ma in an narahu wa nasma'a kalamahu fa yadh-habu dhalika kulluhu wa inqalibna shirahan wa quwwatan wa yaqina he says, the moment we see him and we speak to him all of this will go away and we feel more encouraged, more peaceful and tranquil

**[57:36]** Sheikh, subhanallah qala fa subhana man ashhada 'ibadahu jannatahu qabla liqa'ih so glory be to the one who made his servants witness his paradise before even they meet him qala wa fataha lahum abwabaha fi dari al-'amal

**[57:52]** and he opened for them doors in the abode of deeds meaning he opened doors of jannah while they're still in dunya while they're still in dunya that beautiful connection with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala Sheikh, do you know, if you remember, subhanallah how Ibn Taymiyyah, rahimahullah, he passed

**[58:08]** the reason why he died just to let you know this man was in prison right now and one of the benefits of being, by the way, in prison sometimes, Sheikh is that you have less responsibility right now you have nothing much to worry about you don't have to worry about bills

**[58:24]** you don't have to worry about doing this or doing that you don't have to do many things so you're confined so your world becomes very small and now you become a bit more focused on what you need to focus on therefore, he was focusing on his dhikr and from prison, he was communicating with his students

**[58:42]** he was communicating with his students and he was actually writing letters for them there's a book out there, I believe it's also translated into English language called Letters from Prison by Ibn Taymiyyah, rahimahullah wa ta'ala they collected those letters that he sent and one of them was so sweet and beautiful letter he wrote to his mom

**[58:57]** an amazing letter actually, subhanallah but the point is that Ibn Taymiyyah, he died when did he die he died when those who kind of like went after him until he was put in jail

**[59:12]** they went to the governor again and said, look, I mean, you did nothing how come? He's in prison he said, yeah, but his words still come out he still writes letters he communicates with his students this needs to stop

**[59:27]** so what did they do they silenced him they took all his books and all his writing materials away from him Ibn al-Qayyim, rahimahullah and Ibn Kathir, rahimahullah wa ta'ala Ibn Kathir was one of his students as well he mentioned that in his very famous book, al-Bidayah wan-Nihayah

**[59:43]** like the story of Ibn Taymiyyah when he passed he goes, when they, of course, they silenced him and they banned the students from seeing him and he remained in that kind of seclusion for some time he goes, when they announced his death He was one of few people who were allowed to see him

**[1:00:00]** Ibn al-Qayyim was in prison with him in another cell So he couldn't see him Ibn Kathir, he says, we went there And we saw him when he was lying on that bed He says, I was shocked At how much he turned white so quickly

**[1:00:21]** Like his hair was dark So when they took away all his lifeline His books, his writing materials, his da'wah His source to connect with his students When they took this away from him He basically says, he just turned white so quickly

**[1:00:39]** Until he passed, rahimahullah wa ta'ala Subhanallah wa ta'ala, have mercy on him Shaykh Sahib al-Tamim, rahimahullah And all these ulema, great ulema who benefit from this Dhikr of Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala Shaykh, one of the lines, by the way

**[1:00:55]** Masha'Allah, he writes masha'Allah Right, you know, he said that What he would say in his sujud in prison Was, oh Allah, help me Help me to remember you more To thank you properly and to worship you properly Like, what's the concern of a person in prison

**[1:01:11]** Is to get out His concern is, how do I thank Allah properly Right, how do I thank Allah properly For his blessings upon me And Shaykh, I'll just say this It's important for us, like Let's also be real, there are a lot of ulema in prison right now

**[1:01:27]** In the Muslim world There are a lot of political prisoners that are here I hate that we talk about prisoners as if they're dead It's probably one of the biggest crimes that we commit against Our own Is when we talk about them as if they're already dead

**[1:01:43]** And one of the ways, like I was thinking about this Like Shaykh al-Tarifi, right For example, in Saudi Who's in prison, like You see, like a lot of times his quotes get shared And I was thinking about what Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him Like his letters having to be shared

**[1:01:58]** Like, share the words of the ulema That are in prison and that are alive So that they can, the benefit still remains For those scholars that are alive and in prison Wherever they may be And don't treat prisoners like they're dead Like that was the thing that bothered So much of us about Imam Jamil al-Amin, may Allah have mercy on him

**[1:02:15]** We treated him like he was dead before he actually died Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, don't treat a person like they're dead before they actually die And you'll be surprised, like yeah People age in prison quickly You know, what Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him Went through, like the quick graying

**[1:02:31]** People age in prison really quick I mean, what would have taken a year Instead, like they look like they age five, ten years Depending on the nature of their torture So if a person could dedicate themselves to this cause Of helping political prisoners

**[1:02:48]** Then that's one of the most noble ways For you to help someone who's otherwise forgotten So just keep that in mind, insha'Allah I mean, there are the Ibn Taymiyyah's and the Yusuf's And the Malcolm X's of our time That still exist behind those prison walls

**[1:03:04]** So in conclusion, Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him Says over here, loving Allah And knowing Him, constantly remembering Him Feeling relief and tranquility in Him Singling Him out for love, fear, hope, trust And knowing He alone is dominant over your concerns

**[1:03:22]** Intents and decisions Then this is the paradise of this life and bliss That is no resembled by any other Like if you want to have this jannah on earth Then just get closer to Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala Always, always have the dhikr of Allah, azza wa jal

**[1:03:39]** And fill your heart with the dhikr of Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala May Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala Give us that jannah on earth, ya rabbal 'alamin To be among the people and members of Allah Amin, it's important, Shaykh Because it teaches you here that These are not empty words that you're saying And you're just scoring points

**[1:03:55]** And getting this, this, this and that Dhikr should bear the fruit of tawakkul Trust in Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala Right? So you're submitting your affairs to Him You're becoming more aware of Him You're becoming more aware of His power You're becoming more aware of His perpetual control

**[1:04:10]** And so you're feeling less of a need To be in constant control of your own affairs Like, oh, I'm happy now, right? So when the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Says in one narration, for example It's marfu' to the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam That whoever says Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa hu Alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbul arshil azim

**[1:04:26]** Seven times In the morning and the evening Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa hu Alayhi tawakkaltu wa huwa rabbul arshil azim Sufficient for me is Allah La ilaha illa hu There is no God but Him Alayhi tawakkaltu I put my trust in Him Wa huwa rabbul arshil azim

**[1:04:41]** And He is the Lord of the mighty throne These are not just Like, this doesn't remove your stress Or remove your anxiety for the day just because It's because the words themselves Like, Allah is good enough for me Alhamdulillah, I'm trusting Him

**[1:04:56]** So therefore, when someone Tries to get involved in the day Hasbiyallah When you feel compromised Like you have to make a choice that's unprincipled Alayhi tawakkaltu Right? And when someone threatens you with their power

**[1:05:11]** Huwa rabbul arshil azim He's the Lord of the mighty throne So who's gonna get in between you and your Lord in that regard? So dhikr Again, it's a thing of the tongue But it's supposed to overwhelm you And to make you think about what you're actually saying So say it until it actually becomes something

**[1:05:26]** That's of the reality of you Just like when you read the Qur'an From front to back, by the way Over and over and over again It'll give you something new every time The dhikr will become a deeper part of you And if you think about And I'm sure he probably comes to this in one of the points

**[1:05:41]** Shaykh, like The hadith of the Prophet That whoever's last words are la ilaha illallah They'll enter into jannah Who's gonna be able to say la ilaha illallah At the most stressful moment of their life Which is the time of death Except someone that used to always say la ilaha illallah

**[1:05:57]** In stressful times And so Allah gives them thabat once again That firmness once again With that word of firmness So death comes to them La ilaha illallah And it's so beautiful and profound When you see someone who just It just effortlessly flows from their mouth

**[1:06:12]** At the time of death It's really something It's really a sight to behold To see someone say la ilaha illallah And then breathe their last May Allah give us that ending Amin Amin Amin There's so many questions over here May Allah forgive us for missing many of them

**[1:06:28]** So we apologize for all the brothers and sisters Who are posting questions We were unable to answer here So the first one says Why do we say Allahu akbar 34 times In the du'a that we go to sleep We say subhanallah 33 times Alhamdulillah 33 times And Allahu akbar 34 times Is there any insight on that Shaykh?

**[1:06:44]** Well I haven't read in it for a while So I don't Some of the ulema I mean actually they say It's only just to round it up to 100 Just like we say La ilaha illallah The same thing To round up to 100 Which is subhanallah

**[1:06:59]** We talked about the whole The vagus nerve and so on That The repetition should be in cycles And when you do that dhikr in cycle When you hum that in cycle When you repeat certain line of poetry in cycle It gives that relief For the body and the heart as well too

**[1:07:15]** So perhaps for Allah to round it up to 100 So to make it in cycles Insha'Allah Tabaraka wa ta'ala When I do dhikr for a long period of time I sometimes forget the meaning of it Especially when I say it in Arabic Because Arabic isn't my first language Is it okay to say dhikr

**[1:07:31]** Even though I forget the meaning Or should I focus on just saying it in English I'd say review the meaning frequently Insha'Allah ta'ala Like listen to the benefits of it Listen to the meaning of it Just review the meaning frequently But continue to say it insha'Allah When you hear about the incredible reward

**[1:07:46]** Attached to simple dhikr It is really highlights Allah's mercy Subhanahu wa ta'ala Why do so many people still fail To take advantage of this opportunity And end up in Jahannam

**[1:08:25]** I don't know why anyone would end up in Jahannam Isn't this the beginning of the Quran Right? But I guess the person is saying what causes people to be negligent You know In the shari'ah Like The word yaqin Like if you translate it as knowledge or conviction

**[1:08:40]** Or certitude, certainty Shaykh al-Islam, rahimahullah ta'ala He describes yaqin As really a matter of the heart Like truly believing it And part of having that yaqin Is to believe in the unseen I have to see it to believe it right Isn't this the beginning of the Qur'an

**[1:08:56]** Right Yu'minuna bil ghayb Part of al-iman bil ghayb To believe in the unseen Is to believe in the unseen reward Like if I saw What my dhikr built every single day I would never leave it

**[1:09:12]** I would never leave it But I don't see it So it feels like these words are Ah yeah So that's the whole point Is that when it comes to Allah azza wa jal

**[1:09:27]** Having that certainty in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala That true yaqin in Allah azza wa jal It's in His reward as well It's where I don't have to see it I know it's there I trust it So I expected this question to come like this And there's no way we escape that

**[1:09:43]** What's the best dhikr for not just a righteous spouse But to find the right one for you What is the best dhikr someone can do And I think they mean by the du'a maybe To find a good righteous spouse Not just righteous But also the right one for you Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin wa ja'alna lil muttaqina imama

**[1:09:59]** So Allahu a'lam But this du'a To ask Allah It's not once you're married It's before you get married as well So even when you're young Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin wa ja'alna lil muttaqina imama So you're not just asking Allah for spouses and children

**[1:10:16]** You're asking Allah for spouses and children That would be the coolness of your eyes What do you say Shaykh? Can I add to this? I think many people just want a quick fix for their problems It's a du'a that can make me find the right person

**[1:10:32]** It's not just a du'a You need to work so hard on yourself One of our biggest problems in the marriage market That there's no attraction Because unfortunately we're looking for the wrong things these days Back in the days marriage was very simple No I just walked right into that one so I'm just going to stop here

**[1:10:47]** Okay But seriously to the point that subhanAllah My dear brothers Wallahi when it comes to the subject of marriage It bothers me so much these days Because unfortunately we're drifting away From the purpose of marriage, the meaning of marriage What it's supposed to be for

**[1:11:02]** Nowadays marriage has become just a point on a checklist No one's getting married for the right reason anymore To get married, to establish a family To follow the commandments of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala To help each other, to support each other No, we get married and everybody comes with a selfish need into the relationship

**[1:11:18]** And that's why we keep ripping apart unfortunately So please, before you start making the du'a Work on qualifying yourself to be insha'Allah ready for marriage Bi'idhnillahi 'azza wa jal Is there more reward to say the dhikr in Arabic versus English? There is the hadith where

**[1:11:34]** I think it was Mu'adh radiAllahu anhu right? Raditu billahi rabban wa bil-Islami dina Actually I don't want to say that because I don't One of the companions said Raditu billahi rabban wa bil-Islami dina Wa bi-Muhammadin sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Nabiyyan wa rasula And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam corrected him and said Just say nabiya

**[1:11:49]** That's the du'a when he was Du'a before you go to sleep Du'a before you go to sleep So what that shows is there is some benefit to being specific To the exact adhkar of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam What I would say is use the exact adhkar of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam But then make your du'a in your own language

**[1:12:05]** And build off of that in your own language And then let your heart speak right? But there is something to the formula of the specific du'a That the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam taught In these different situations So that's Arabic versus English How about Urdu? I don't know man

**[1:12:20]** Come on You tell me Same thing Because I don't want people to say Urdu is like Arabic So it has to be virtuous insha'Allah If we are making dhikr while shopping or while doing other things

**[1:12:37]** Is that disrespectful to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala or what? No actually subhanAllah There is adab of dhikr versus the adab of Qur'an Dhikr in the general sense is not like the Qur'an The Qur'an has more rules

**[1:12:53]** Stricter rules As to how you engage it on a regular basis But dhikr is something you should do at all times Really famous story of Imam Ahmad rahim Allahu ta'ala And the baker A person who is just remembering Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala constantly And Allah 'azza wa jal brings Imam Ahmad rahim Allah

**[1:13:10]** Right to see just this man in his state of baking Constantly remembering Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala So Adh-dhakireena Allaha kathiran wa adh-dhakirati Allah actually did address the value of quantity to dhikr Those who remember Allah frequently from the men and the women

**[1:13:27]** The Prophet ﷺ said Sabaqa al-mufarridun That verily the loners have gone forth They said who are they? He said Adh-dhakireena Allaha kathiran wa adh-dhakirati Those who remember Allah frequently from the men and from the women

**[1:13:43]** So is evening adhkar different from sleep adhkar? Yes So the Prophet ﷺ said Wa ghudu wa ruhu wa shay'un min ad-duljah So You have adhkar as-sabah is from fajr to sunrise

**[1:13:59]** Fajr to sunrise Adhkar al-masa', the evening remembrance is from asr to maghrib And then What if someone misses it from asr to maghrib? Can they say it after maghrib? They should still do it Wallahu ta'ala they should still do it It just might not have the same reward

**[1:14:15]** Other 'ulama say if a person does it as a habit And they missed it for some other reason Then insha'Allah it will have the same reward But these are adhkar Every dhikr that we say in adhkar as-sabah and al-masa' The morning and evening remembrance Is still a rewardable dhikr in and of itself at any time of the day

**[1:14:30]** But to get the attached reward to it It should be your habit to say them at the allotted times And then there is the dhikr of an-nawm The dhikr when a person Ya'ti ila firashihi When a person goes to their bed And then there is the dhikr upon waking up before fajr

**[1:14:45]** So these are the four times that are specified From the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Of time value to them Wallahu ta'ala It's not a question but As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh From Switzerland From Firuz and her family It's 7:51 here

**[1:15:00]** And such a pleasure to listen to you May Allah reward you The best in the dunya And in the hereafter and the akhirah And may Allah accept from all of us So the du'a I'm making to all of you guys For facilitating this to them Far away from the walls of this masjid Masha'Allah The reach is way beyond

**[1:15:15]** Alhamdulillah this bandwidth we have here JazakumAllahu khayr for being with us From all around the world BarakAllahu fikum insha'Allah Are we allowed to do Are we allowed to do these dhikr in salah

**[1:15:31]** If we can When can we say them So basically The dhikr of the evening and morning dhikr Can we say them in salah No, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam Would say them after the salah So it's different from The dhikr can be mentioned in salah JazakumAllahu khayr

**[1:15:51]** So someone says like During the year I feel like I'm a spiritual zombie I talk to Allah all day But the 'ibadah slips away How do I combat this state Like how can we revive that Ramadan is different And so Ramadan comes

**[1:16:06]** Masha'Allah Suddenly we wake up How can we keep that awake And continue after Ramadan Try to maintain the Ramadan formula What's the Ramadan formula It's like when someone says I feel like tonight was Laylatul Qadr Because I had an amazing night No, you had an amazing night Because you had an amazing night

**[1:16:22]** When you give time for Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala And you remember Allah 'azza wa jal You spend time in the masjid You spend time reading the Qur'an at night Making du'a at night You fast, right You set goals for yourself for the day Then that's going to have an effect On your spirit, on your soul

**[1:16:38]** So set quantifiable goals And try to recreate the Ramadan experiment Let me tell you all something One of the things that And I'm speaking specifically To the Valley Ranch community right now Alright, to the VRIC community

**[1:16:53]** You need to be present in the halaqas Outside of Ramadan Physically, right Like take advantage of the halaqas Here, physically Sit in them Come and sit in them And be in the presence of the mala'ikah And the angels

**[1:17:08]** Be consistent with them too Insha'Allah ta'ala This is an opportunity for you So attach yourself There's the narration of Ibn Mas'ud radiAllahu ta'ala anhu Whoever wants to die upon Islam Then let them hold on to these masajid Wait, of course I'm going to die a Muslim

**[1:17:26]** You don't know that Attach yourself to the masjid of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala He'll attach you to the deen of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala Keep the Ramadan formula alive for yourself If you're a Jumu'ah only Muslim Your soul is going to feel corrupted throughout the week

**[1:17:41]** I'm just being real If you're a Jumu'ah only Muslim I'm not saying you're not Muslim throughout the week I mean Jumu'ah only That's the only time you come to the masjid Recreate the formula for yourself insha'Allah Throughout the year Shaykh Yumna, one more thing to this is If there is anything in particular

**[1:17:56]** That we learn from the month of Ramadan Like if there is one major lesson That Ramadan is all about that lesson Is discipline Ibn Qudamah, may Allah have mercy on him Mentioned that as well He said that It all revolves around discipline

**[1:18:13]** Your life, not just Ramadan It all revolves around discipline Look at this Ramadan right now masha'Allah What time is it right now? It's almost 2:30am And look at you Sitting there for an hour and a half Coming from far away perhaps maybe

**[1:18:30]** And made that commitment You disciplined yourself You freed that time You made yourself to come over here Instead of doing something else So you discipline yourself with that Same thing during the day You discipline yourself with almost everything Reading Qur'an Finishing your tasks that you want to finish and so on

**[1:18:46]** So Ramadan is all about discipline And once Ramadan is over That lifestyle of discipline, lifestyle Doesn't end and shouldn't end really But the moment you just kind of like Cut it loose And you go back again to procrastination

**[1:19:02]** And distraction and so on We lost the value of the month of Ramadan altogether It's about discipline ajma' It's about discipline Someone is asking Which is very interesting This question right now As we speak about this Best dhikr for laziness and procrastination

**[1:19:19]** I think they mean against laziness and procrastination To be lazy Can you imagine? Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-'ajzi wa al-kasal O Allah, I seek refuge in You from inability and from laziness

**[1:19:37]** 'Ajz is laziness by circumstance or incapacity Kasal is laziness by choice Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-'ajzi wa al-kasal And of course the rest of the du'a There are so many questions over here subhanAllah

**[1:19:52]** But the last question shaykh over here When it comes to having that seclusion with Allah subhanAllah I would love to have that time with Allah alone But I have so many responsibilities So what do I do?

**[1:20:07]** So do they All these people had responsibilities It's not like they were empty life If you really care deeply about something You'll make the time for it And you'll find the time for it You've got something you want to achieve You will make it happen You'll figure it out

**[1:20:22]** And I'm not trying to be reductionist here Like I'm not trying to dismiss people's circumstances I'm saying that we all know Talking to myself too When something is important for you You know how to make time for it somehow You'll know how to carve out time for it And to make the space for it So it really comes back to your own priority

**[1:20:38]** And remember what the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said The most beloved of deeds to Allah Are the consistent ones even if they're small You're not expected to do this every night of the year But can you do for 15 minutes?

**[1:20:53]** You know, 5 nights a week? 2 nights a week? Right? You're not expected to pray You know, for an hour every night after 'Isha But can you do 2 rak'as? Right? So It's consistency here Just giving it It's dedicated time and consistency

**[1:21:09]** Shaykh, I recommend to people always Because alhamdulillah most of the people have The Fajr adhan And the salah apps on their phones If you can You can put on the setting For the pre-adhan time

**[1:21:24]** Let's say to wake you up 20 minutes before Fajr salah We always try to wake up at the iqamah Not even at the adhan Right? If I can catch the imam before he makes the call That would be great But I want you to try to Make that setting right now

**[1:21:39]** Make that setting to be 20 minutes before The actual adhan Imagine if every single night You wake up alone Wherever you're sleeping And to do 20 minutes of Mindful dhikr of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala Because someone was asking a question

**[1:21:55]** How much dhikr a person needs to be To keep themselves, you know Mindful and this and that It's not about the quantity Whoever stands up and just reads 10 verses of the Qur'an Will not be written from the people of ghaflah, the people of heedlessness

**[1:22:14]** If you stand up and you read 100 ayat Then you'll be written from the deeply devout Whoever stands up with a thousand verses They're written amongst those who are piling up treasures

**[1:22:29]** Who are storing and hoarding treasures So two rak'ah with 10 verses recited beautifully every single night Shuts the door of the shaytan of course in front of you To come through to your heart May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala give us the ability to fulfill the beautiful adhkar

**[1:22:50]** That Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala protect us from the evil of the shaytan We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to show us that which is right And make it easy for us to follow it And that which is wrong and stay away from it We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to protect us from the evil of the shaytan We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to fill our hearts with love and mercy

**[1:23:07]** And rahmah for one another And the way we all got in this place We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to bring us together in Jannatul Firdaws al-A'la With the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam Alhamdulillah rabbil 'alamin Wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh Wassalam

**[1:23:28]** Alhamdulillah
