**[0:01]** As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu everyone. This is Omar Suleiman, the founder and president of the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research. You might have noticed that we started our online fundraising campaign. And Yaqeen Institute was really born out of a recognition that we needed to reach more people, that the content that we typically

**[0:20]** put out there as mashayikh or du'at or Islamic studies providers usually reach a certain group of our ummah and usually reach a certain group of people that already are inclined in a certain way towards Islamic sciences. But what we were neglecting is the large mass

**[0:38]** of our ummah that is really struggling to figure out how to reconcile Islam with modernity, how to deal with the ongoing issues, the onslaught against this tradition, against this religion, and they weren't finding the proper research or media to answer those questions. We've

**[0:53]** had fantastic journals that have been written, books that have been written in the past that have been buried away, not exposed to the masses that could really help people out. And we've had fantastic media with different stories from the Qur'an and different stories from the tradition of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and other things that I myself have

**[1:12]** had the pleasure of being a part of that have reached the masses. But how do you marry the media with the research and bring those two together where you have fantastic, substantive, pioneering research that's being done on the issues that are causing doubt for Muslims or that are taking away from our sense of contribution with a fantastic media platform.

**[1:32]** How do you marry that research with that media? And that's been our goal at Yaqeen, to reach a group of people that we have not been able to reach in the past with incredible research that's broken down into digestibles that can really transform and change the narrative.

**[1:48]** So help us to sustain research that's going to benefit the women of our ummah, that's going to benefit students that are in universities trying to figure things out, that's going to provide a foundation for our up and coming generations and the parents and the teachers and the imams that are trying to cater to those generations.
