In that indescribably anxious Hour, two things will differentiate the true believers: their immense,... ## Transcript **[0:00]** In this life, if you surround yourself with people of certain traits, it's impossible for that not to translate into some observable way in your own traits. A good friend is going to rub off on you in a way that your character is so obviously made better by their companionship, **[0:15]** and a bad friend is going to cause you to reek in this life in a way that everyone can smell it on you and will feel an aversion to you unless they have those exact same rotten qualities. And so on the Day of Judgment, the people you're going to find standing around you are the people you surround yourself with here, or those that you loved and longed for, **[0:36]** even if you weren't able to physically accompany them. So ask yourself, are these the people I want to see around me when I'm resurrected? Make that part of the criteria for your friend selection. As the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, no one loves a people except that they're going to be resurrected with them. And when paradise is brought near and **[0:55]** hellfire is brought near, you want to be standing with and resembling the people of paradise, not the people of the fire. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, **[1:14]** Hellfire is brought forth on that day with 70,000 brittles and 70,000 angels are on each one of those brittles dragging it forward. Now, if you do the math, that's 4.9 billion **[1:33]** angels dragging hellfire while it is roaring and ready to consume the wicked. And then you look and you see Jibreel alayhi wasallam and all of the angels lined up in rows. And none of them are saying a word. **[1:52]** And you see every nation is brought to its knees and its records are brought forth. Today you will be compensated for what you used to do. So while Jahannam is roaring and ready to consume the wicked, may Allah protect us. **[2:10]** Allah azawajal then says, Paradise is brought close to the righteous. It's no longer distant. This is what you were promised for whoever constantly turned to Allah and kept up his **[2:28]** commandments. Those who were in awe of the most merciful, even when they couldn't see him, and they've now returned to him with pure hearts. So if you notice there are five traits for those people to whom Jannah is brought near. **[2:46]** Number one, they're muttaqeen, they're God conscious, which means they avoided sins. Number two, they are awwab, always turned back to Allah, which means they repented often because you will inevitably commit sins. Number three, hafeel, you kept up his commandments, meaning you guarded the obligations that Allah **[3:07]** gave to you. And then number four, khashiyar rahmana bilghayb, you were in awe of Allah without seeing him. And so you exerted yourself in doing voluntary deeds when no one else could see you and you could not see Allah. So you prayed qiyam and you did those secret acts of good. **[3:24]** And through it all, jaa biqalb bin muneeb, you came to Allah with a pure heart, meaning you had sincerity in all of those things. So you abstained from sin knowingly, you repented oftenly, you guarded the obligations, you pushed yourself to do voluntary deeds. **[3:41]** But more importantly than all of that, you had a pure heart. Now notice here, the ummahs are all standing together, but then they're broken up within the ummahs. So who do you want to be closest to from this ummah? And the master of this ummah and the master of all of mankind, Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi **[4:00]** Wasallam. And this man asked the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, Ya Rasulullah, matasaha, O Messenger of Allah, when is the hour going to be? And he said to him, well, what have you prepared for it? And the man said, nothing except that I love Allah and I love his Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. **[4:16]** The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, Anta ma'man ahbabt, you are going to be with those whom you love. How amazing would it be to be standing on the day of judgment and then you look to your right and immediately next to you is Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and then his family **[4:32]** and his companions. But that love of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has to be sincere. And you can't claim to love him without following him. Innal muhibba li man yuhibbu muti'u, you follow those who you love. So loving the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam who had this exalted standard of character **[4:49]** means that the sweetness of his seerah is your perfume. It's your scent. Every time you read about him and every time you long for him, you become more like him Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. So the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, Ala ukhbirkum bi ahabbikum ilayya wa **[5:06]** akrabikum minni majlisan yawm al qiyamah, shall I not tell you who the most beloved of you to me are and the closest of you to me in the assembly on the day of judgment and the sahaba were silent. So the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam repeated himself two or three times and he **[5:22]** said, yes, O messenger of Allah, who is it? And he said, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ahsanukum khuluqa, those of you who have the best character. And then Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam then got specific about what the best character looks like. **[5:38]** So he mentioned, for example, a man who raises two daughters and he does well with their upbringing. Ja'a yawm al qiyamah, he comes on the day of judgment, ana wa huwa, he and I, like these two fingers. So of his character Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, a father reads how the Prophet Sallallahu **[5:55]** Alaihi Wasallam was with Fatima radiAllahu anha. And then that shapes his own character as a father. So he's standing with the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, who's the greatest father of all time. And he's also implementing those multiple manifestations of his character Sallallahu **[6:11]** Alaihi Wasallam that bring him closer to him on the day of judgment. And then what happens when you read about him and you're also trying to be like him constantly, you're naturally going to send salawat on him Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. And the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, awlan nasa bi yawm al qiyamah, akhtaruhum **[6:29]** alayya salatan, the closest of people to me on the day of judgment are those who sent the most blessings upon me Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. So it's loving him with your heart. It's being him with your deeds. And then it's praying upon him with your tongue Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam constantly. **[6:50]** And in this life, you came to know your Lord through your Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and you drew near to Allah in the ways that the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam taught you to do so.
