**[0:30]** Your brothers and sisters, if any of you have ever encountered a fear of flying, there's

**[0:49]** something very interesting about the particular phobia that some have with being in an airplane. And no matter what statistics you give to someone about how safe it is to fly, if someone

**[1:05]** has an apprehension, you can tell them you're more likely to be hit by a car while riding your bike. You're more likely to die by a furniture fall. You're more likely to die by this, to die by that. The apprehension is still very strong. And one of the reasons

**[1:22]** for that is that there's a psychology to it of not being able to control your own fate. When you're in a plane, and you're in midair, and the turbulence starts, and I'm sure many of us have experienced it where you're watching a movie or you're reading something or you're

**[1:41]** talking to someone and then as soon as the plane starts to shake, everyone starts to make du'a. Everything gets very tense, except for the experienced flyers that have been on there all the time. But the turbulence causes a great sense of apprehension. And

**[1:56]** even if you try to go through the statistics in your head and say, well, you know, this happens all the time, it's okay, everything's going to be fine. Most people who fly frequently could tell you that they've experienced the moment where they thought this turbulence was going to lead to a plane accident, that it was going to crash this time. Now, why

**[2:15]** is this significant or relevant to what we're talking about with Musa alayhi salam? And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala parting the seas for him, and making a way out for him. I want you to think about Musa alayhi salam in context of what the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam

**[2:33]** taught us to say nightly, la malja'a wala manja'a minka illa ilayk Oh Allah, there is no refuge and no escape from you except to you. Malja'a is a place of refuge. Manja'a is one who delivers. There is no refuge and no delivery from you except

**[2:57]** to you Oh Allah. There is no safety, no stability, no shelter to be found except by going back to you Oh Allah. And many times it's in our heads that we have these imaginary sources

**[3:12]** of strength and stability that actually are not sources of stability in our lives. And subhanAllah, it doesn't just start with Musa alayhi salam walking through the seas. Look at what Allah tells the mother of Musa alayhi salam or inspires to the mother of Musa alayhi

**[3:28]** salam, fa idha khifti alayhi. If you're worried about him, fa alqihi falyam, then put him in the Nile River, which goes against all logic with her at that moment. If you're worried about your baby, put him in the river and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will deliver him.

**[3:47]** Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will take care of him. Musa alayhi salam learned very early on that the staff that he had, he had to let it go to find his support only in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that it wasn't the staff that he was leaning on that it was Allah subhanahu

**[4:03]** wa ta'ala giving him strength. And Musa alayhi salam understood that this staff was just a means by which Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala opens things up. And I want you to think about that moment when he splits the seas by the permission of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and

**[4:19]** walks through it. And Musa alayhi salam is on land with his people walking between the ocean or the sea split into two and standing like mountains there. And Musa alayhi salam and his people walk through it. And I want you to remember Nuh alayhi salam and his son.

**[4:39]** Nuh as the floods are coming down, and things are filling up. And as he is moving away, he sees his son staying back. And what is his son say? I'm going to stay on this mountain, and it will protect me from the water.

**[4:58]** All of this dear brothers and sisters is to teach us a lesson. That stability comes from obedience to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. That the firm ground that we are upon is the obedience to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the righteousness that we get and attain through that obedience

**[5:17]** and then the reward of that righteousness of thabat of firmness and stability. So if you run away from something, run to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. And if you are afraid of something, seek refuge only in Allah. And if you are seeking victory, then do as Allah

**[5:34]** subhanahu wa ta'ala commands. And do not be deluded by the things that are around us, that seem to be sources of strength and stability, but all they are are tools from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. And that's why dear brothers and sisters, on the day of judgment, when the

**[5:50]** skies are ripped open, when the sea starts to rebel, you know they said two hurricanes coming at the same time, right? Never happened before. When the seas burst, when nature starts to give in. And what do the people say on the day of judgment?

**[6:08]** The ground starts to shake and they say, wait a minute, things are shaking and what's going on here? It's not supposed to be this way. And dear brothers and sisters, in times of ajaaib, in times of strange things, and things that are supernatural and things that don't

**[6:28]** make sense, all of this also teaches us to seek our strength in the one who is not moved by his creation, in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, through it all. Whether you are in the air or whether you are in the water, or whether you're on firm ground or whether you're the

**[6:44]** one in the driver's seat or not, the reality is that you're always a passenger. The reality is that you are always vulnerable and floating mid-air or in the middle of water and you need Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to deliver you. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to deliver us always to him. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to make us a people that seek our refuge,

**[7:04]** seek our cure, seek our stability only in him. And to never allow us to find strength outside of him that would delude us and only expose itself when it's too late. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to strengthen us with this revelation, to give us aid as he

**[7:23]** gave aid to Musa alayhi salam, to give us always ease after hardship and to allow us to find the reward that he has promised for all of his prophets. Allahumma ameen. As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
