**[0:00]** Is sadness a sign of weak iman? When you struggle through tremendous pain, or when things in your life aren't going the way you planned, you may fear that your relationship with Allah must be weak, or that you must have low iman.

**[0:15]** That's not true. When Prophet Yaqub was separated from his son Prophet Yusuf, he grieved so deeply that he lost his eyesight. When Ibrahim, the young son of Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, passed away,

**[0:30]** a companion saw him crying and expressed surprise. The Prophet, pbuh, said of tears, This is mercy. The eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved. But we will not say except what pleases our Lord. O Ibrahim, indeed we are grieved by your separation.

**[0:51]** The greatest of people that walked this earth grieved deeply and yet they had the best relationships with Allah, the highest of iman. Your grief does not mean your faith is weak. Just as Allah gave you life, He gave you emotions, and they serve a purpose.

**[1:10]** Your struggles are an opportunity to gain closeness to Allah. Your grief is mercy.
