Sh. Omar Husain
Head of Instruction

Omar Husain serves as the Religious Director at MCECC in San Antonio, is an LPC-Intern (Supervised by Michael Moyer), and LCDC. He attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, on a tennis scholarship, and graduated with a degree in Information Sciences. He began studying Arabic and the Islamic sciences in Toronto, Canada. After returning to the United States he worked as a business analyst. During this time, he was blessed to complete his memorization of the Quran. He then travelled to Cairo, Egypt, and graduated from Al-Azhar university with a degree in Islamic studies and Arabic. He has translated the masterpiece of Imam Jalāl ad-Dīn Suyūṭī, Al-Itqān Fī U’lūm al-Qur’ān “Towards Perfecting the Qur’ānic Sciences.” He has an MA in counseling and guidance from Texas A&M University-San Antonio, and is currently a Doctoral candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he resides with his family.

Tesneem Alkiek
Director of Expanded Learning

Tesneem Alkiek completed her undergraduate degree in Early Christianity and Islamic Studies at the University of Michigan. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Islamic Studies at Georgetown University with a focus on the development of Islamic law. She serves as the Director of Expanded Learning where she works with her to team to create curricula and other resources for communities to engage with Yaqeen’s research.

Dr. Altaf Husain
Vice President

Dr. Altaf Husain is Associate Professor at the School of Social Work, Howard University. Specialization includes community organizing, non-profit management, and social welfare policy; development of social services to serve immigrant and refugee families.
