A popular public speaker, he has delivered talks and led poetry workshops in the United States and Pakistan. His current research explores the role of literature and poetry in the formation of Muslim ethical and spiritual life in early modern and modern South Asia. He holds a Masters degree from the University of Oxford and has studied for many years with traditionally trained scholars from Pakistan.
